Newer (2015+) versus older Fits

I have a 2008 Honda Fit that I purchased used with 2010. I bought it and like it for the following features - cargo space and functionality of that space, practicality, gas mileage and compared to other hatchbacks that weren't total junk, none could compare in terms of price point. What I haven't liked is the amount of maintenance I have had to put into it. I have had to replace the transmission, which was a killer, and the ignition coils have been a constant source of frustration. Most of the other stuff has been routine. I am starting to look at what my next car options are in my price range (which isn't very high). For instance, I checked out the Mazda three, which gets great gas mileage, but it is almost $10,000 more. The ford Focus is as well. Ten grand is a lot to pay for increased reliability, which I am not sure I would get, especially with the Mazda. So I am wondering if the issues that I have had with the Fit, which was produced early in this model's history, would still be an issue if I bought a new one? Would love to hear from anyone with experience or an opinion on this. I travel for work so am a high mileage user - about $35000-40,000 Km per year.
