Top speed

really? I have been about at that and the car (relatively speaking felt pretty planted)
I guess I should ask what was the unstable feeling? Was it traction, body roll, did the car just feel floaty, darty, mousey, squirrely, was it windy and wandered, were you on the gas then lifted completely off?

edit forgot to mention, I live in wv where the speed limit is 70 and the fit holds up fine (sterring and all) But 100 felt completely different.

130 is really fast. I dont see how it can be done. I have done a 120 in my car and I have i/h/e and around 115 the car does not really wanna go. I have been on the freeway redlining each gear and was at 110 shifting into 5th and only hit 118 or 120.

I really don't want to start a flame war like the one in the old kraftwerks thread, but show me ONE THING from the service manual, or whatever kind of ECU readout you're getting, about a so-called "fuel cutoff".and if there IS a "fuel cutoff" its past 130. 131 is my number, and i can do it again, maybe i'll snap a photo while i'm at it next time. i call BS on LITERALLY "hitting teh wall" at 115-120 and living to tell about it

Why is this in Fit racing? This a forum for responsible adults who take the time and money to drive their cars legally and safely on a TRACK. This top speed nonsense is juvenile and very dangerous, not to mention just plain stupid. I hope a moderator can move this to a different section.

I have done 120 on I-294, the Fit can do definitly more but I was worring about my tires (dunlop tested only to 150mph) I have MT and I didnt notice any "fuel cut off" I dont think that Fit has any speed limiter it only has RPM limiter at 7500 rpm. Once I run over max rpm on second gear and I had a fuel cut off after going over 7500rpm.

There is an entire thread about the cutoff on the Fit where most people claimed that they hit 118 and the engine backed off. I don't know if it is true because I have not gotten that high, but I came close.

i have to admit i had to look up 'officious' however i agreee i guess it wasnt asked for BUT this is a quote from the title of this section....
this is like a thread in pictures asking how to install their exhaust regardless of the how good or bad the discussion may be. Top speed on public roads is NOT legal in any shape or form therefore should not be in this section

We are pretty limited to 115-125.. I can see 130 if but your engine will probably hate you afterwards lol..
I hit 100 and only add ons I had at the time was CAI and axle back tanabe muffler, I actually got to 110 but was busy steering with that one.. I did not test the top speed after the header and bpipe, Iam sure I could have hit 120..

Thanks for your concern though. I also agree testing a cars top speed on the open road is really retarted, taking a pic while doing this is even more stupid.

To answer the question of why this is in the racing section: Even though the OP stated that they received a ticket while trying to see how fast they could go, the inquiry posed did not say anything about racing or street driving. They merely asked if anyone has reached top speed. Top speed is definitely a raceway statistic IMO. If you haven't reached top speed then the answer is a simple No or just don't post a response.

It stays here because, who knows if they are talking about a straight away on a track or a long public road. To hard to tell. If this thread was strictly a street race thread it would be handled accordingly.
