What SCCA Class am I in?

Run 15 x 7 with 205 tires to begin with. I would run a sub 200 tread wear tire there are so many to chose from. I'm not sure about how classing works with AutoX but make sure you don't do any mods to put you in that class.
I would start with a street tire being a beginner and maybe go through 1 or 2 sets of street tires till you understand how the car handles and them move up to an r compound tire to get faster. If you just start with r compound tires they sometimes tend to mask what the car is doing if you are inexperienced. The breakaway when you lose grip is faster so you need to learn how to counter.
Also on a side note as a beginner if you spin it is ok. You are in a safe area and have medics on site. When I go off track or spin I use it as a learning experience. What did I do wrong or what could I have changed. You may say I went to fast into the corner but maybe you could have gone that speed if you were on the throttle at the exit. It's a lot to take in the first few times but what you are trying to do is make it natural so you don't have to think about as you are driving.
When I'm driving I don't think about how to handle the car anymore. But how to plan ahead.
I know road coarse and AutoX are 2 different world's but if you need help with car setup or have any questions about car control I'm pretty good with fwd cars. Especially the fit. Not so much with rwd lol.

I would say start with the stock wheels with the stock all seasons. Learn how those tires work and find the limits. Next thing would be get the lightest possible wheel with decent offset cough rpf1. Run any of the 200 tread wear tires. Depending on the wheel offset and widths, that should put you in stf. After that upgrade the shocks, then springs then Rear bar. But driver mod is key. Being fast is all about seat time

Agreed 100%. Driver mod is always number 1. But remember seat time isn't just seat time. Must be quality seat time.

i'm also seriously contemplating running my fit in next years one lap...
i haven't had the stock wheels tires in a very long time...
from what i've heard from early reports, the new 71r's are quite the tire...

An oem clutch will handle that which I believe is exedy stage 1.
Do not need the exedy stage 2. It's way too much clutch for our cars. I'm boosted and still not using that clutch. I ran a spec clutch stage 2 or 3 I believe until I went even higher in boost and now I'm running clutch masters fx400.

Be careful on what you choose to run on the car for mods.
Doing a clutch or R-comps puts you in a totally different class that makes you a knife in a gun fight.
Stick to a 200 TW tire. The one getting the best exults right now are the RE-71R. Great tire but the 205/50R15 are back ordered or hard to get if you do get them.
You'll be competing in STF class if you stay with the basics. This is a great class as you will learn the car and driving in autoX. This is my 2nd year in SCCA and STF is fun.
