Every day it seems something horrific happens somewhere in the Bay Area, meanwhile the Board of Supervisors is working tirelessly on very important legislation...
...barring smoking outside.
It's funny. And yet pathetic, disappointing, and even a bit repulsive. Even the non-smokers are saying "What the heck? The city doesn't have anything better to work on, like..." and then they name one of the many problems that are real problems and are not being addressed.
Anyway, I had something happen with my email, I'm still not sure if it was hacked, but I had to change a bunch of stuff and was busy deleting ancient emails this morning, and saw all these unread messages from Fit Freak and realized I haven't been here for MONTHS.
I don't clean out or read all the mail all the time, I would scan for things I was expecting, and think I'd get around to reading all the other things later. But I didn't. So I had valuable offers for holiday savings, from last year in the mail box. It was packed.
And I do a bit of car reading, certainly reading all the Toyota madness on the news site, and commenting on it. Running over to Fit Freak to find the links I'd posted to information on the reasons for the Saylor crash, and then posting them on the news site, trying to help them understand why the CHP officer could not turn off the car and he and his family died.
And every now and then I say something wonderful about my Fit in their news column about other cars, so I still get some car chat in over there. But it's not the same as being here.
I get so excited for the new owners, reading about them buying a Fit. I'm still excited when I go to see my car, and it's been over a year now (and I have just over a whopping 2200 miles on it). -

Or use a guy-font.
I guess it has to do with where we are and what we talk about. It's those preconceived notions, or which sex is supposed to be interested in what topic.
It's not like I was taught to battle sex roles or discrimination. I was (and still often am) oblivious to who is supposed to do what. Best person for the job. Whomever is better at something should be able to do it. If someone has an interest in something, they should be able to enjoy it, discuss it, offer up whatever they have to give.
I was once told that I was driving a "guy-car". Made me mad. It was "a car" to me, that I liked. Nobody asked me for a chromosome profile in the buying process. Later on, my next car was supposedly a "girl-car"...but I bought it from a guy.
Be who you are. Don't let anyone hold you back.

What's up?
