I have only driven a few cars with a mileage monitor and all of them gave readings that were exaggerated reading either on the high or low side..... They are still great tools for a driver to use to keep tabs on their driving skills or for entertalnment on long trips.

Brand new 09 sport manual - mostly highway driving, but rush hour traffic. first full tank numbers - 39.86 mpg, computer on the dash says 48.6 no idea how to calibrate that thing. :-(

Honda is prioritizing peppy over MPG in the Fit, the 09s have an even shorter highway gearing than the 07-08.

If I extrapolate, then the 2039 fit will probably get around 9 MPG and be at 7613 RPM on the highway.

I recently got back from another trip to hike and climb in Colorado from Nashville, TN. Last year's trip was about 3,300 miles and was started just after my '08 base manual Fit turned 500 total miles. The average mileage for that trip was 45.09 mpg via actual calculation, with the highest single-tank average of 50.9 mpg. For this year's trip, the total miles travelled was a little less at about 3,100 miles and again the average mileage was exactly the same 45.09 mpg and with the highest single-tank average of 47.3 mpg. Tire pressure for both trips was at about 45 psi. Of course, last year the car had the factory oil fill but this year I had changed the oil prior to the trip and used Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20. So, the full synthetic oil and 13,000 miles of break-in seem not to have been a means to better fuel efficiency, but I probably drove a little faster this year, so maybe it helped a little. Life-time fuel economy now after about 16,500 miles is 41.34 mpg. The driver's seat was more comfortable this year; either the Fit's seat or my seat got broken in it seems. The only car-related issue this year was I got a very small chip in the windshield in western Kansas. The Fit continues to please me a great deal.

09 MT, just went through 2 full tanks of gas, calculating out my mpg, I've gotten 36mpg from each tank.

thats quite amazing because the whole new car thing, I felt like I was driving it like I stole it.... I guess I wasn't as lead footed as I thought.

also all those miles were around chicago and quite a bit of it stuck in gridlock. so I think those are some stellar numbers. 40mpg shouldn't be a problem at all.

4th tank, got 35+, not being particularly careful and using AC a lot. 5th tank came out at 39+, with just reasonable care and even still some AC. I love this little vehicle!

BTW - that was actual calculated MPG's, not the estimated on the gauge, though it wasn't far off.

Actual calculated mpg after 1300 miles... 39.96 mpg. The mpg gauge avg is at 42.1 - that's driving it regularly and not worrying about mpg. It's been averaging about 4.5% to 5% off from actual. I drive a total of about 90 miles to/from work. It's also interesting the I get my avg up on the way to work and drops a little on the way home (must be uphill to work and downhill to home - midwest - pretty flat out here).

oops, I meant the other way around - downhill to work and uphill to home. I also drive leisurely to work and pretty excitedly on the way home. LOL.

Avg on the gauge has been sticking at about 41.5 which should give me about a 39.5 actual (from prev exp). I shift at faily higher rpms now and cruise at about 70mph.

Not bad fuel consumption at all if I may say so (coming from an 18mpg car).

Over the first 1,000 miles (got the car used with 18K on it) we're getting 33-35 in not particularly careful city driving. Best tank was 39.14 on mixed driving including a drive up to Mount Baker fully loaded.

Pretty happy with it. I have yet do do any real highway driving so I haven;t seen 40+ yet but I am confident it can do it.

I just bought on 8/18 an 09 mt sport. Got it with 24 miles on it and its up to 1500 miles today. Computer indicates 39.5mpg and I checked it when I filled up today and I came up with 35.2mpg. I have checked couple times and it always seems the actual is 4mpg lower then the computer shows but I am still happy with it. I drive about 80 miles per day and a lot are freeway miles. I do notice myself trying to coast if red light ahead or setting the cruise. I think I will be able to get the computer to register 40mpg...as its summer in AZ and ac is running even at night an and will try to increase the tire pressure a little as friend told me he did on his 08 and have read may help with increase mpg.

I am a very happy FIT owner!

ok my first fill up was 345 miles on the trip, 1/4 tank of so.
AVG according to dash was 42.8 90% city
Actual was 40.5 so only 5% off
