How do you fill up?

a. stop at the first click

b. pause a minute at the first click and then keep filling until next click

c. try and slam it full of gas past 2,3 and 4 clicks and rock the car to make sure the air is sufficiently out to put more gas in

I am a "C" choice guy myself.

umm. First click, but I set the pump on the slowest setting (you know the little thing that holds the trigger down) while fueling. I've herd that if you do this, along with getting gas when it's cold out. you'll get more gas in your tank cause fuel's more dense. and you're not over filling.

Note: This is what I heard

Why didn't you just make this into a poll? I usually stop at the first click.

Plus I don't have a minute to wait I'm in a hurry. ALWAYS.

Temp really doesn't matter much when you're filling up. The station's tanks are deep underground will little temp change. The only variable is your warm gas tank, but I doubt that changes how much you can fill up.

I usually go to first click but then pump it a bit more to get an even number, don't really know why since I pay with a debit card but hey!

first click and on first/slowest setting unless I can't for some odd reason spare 30se then I guess I'll rock it on the fastest n yea.
crap part is, going on teh slowest setting makes it seem like you're putting in 15gallons or somethin when most fillups for me are 6-9gal.

You did not mention this method.

I'm not recommending this, but have done it a few times.

After the 1st click, pull the nozzle almost out, so you can see the gas flow out of it and into the filler neck. The tip is still well in the filler neck. Some pumps you will need to pull back the fumes collar on the pump.

Now slowly add the fuel. This can take as long as 5 min, but you will find you can add 2.5 to 3 gals till you can see it in the neck. At that point, you can say it's topped off.

Thats how I got an easy 700 mile tank

Stop at first click so that I can get an accurate MPG calculation on my following fill up.

Shove?

Man if you want objective MPG data then you'll try to remove the human element! I know about how much gas my car needs. If it needs 9 gallons then after I've put in 4 then I back off to the slowest notch, setting whatever and allow the tank to fill slowly so as to allow air to dissipate. I hope most fit freaks are aware the gas tank is under the front seat and that makes the filler "tube" longer than usual.

Rockrover will become famous soon enough
Fast setting to first click...Wait 5 seconds hit it again until second click. Done.

My mpg plot's look like a pogo stick competition, but overall it's about the average over many tanks...Not just about one trip or tank.

go to first click then add about another 1/2 to 1 gallon and get better mpg and miles out of my FIT ...so i dont believe that more weight = less mpg

I've heard poeple say that you better gas mileage /w your tank full, but common sense says you would get better mpg /w the tank empty because of weight.... any comments?

I do first click.

I used to just fill up to the nearest dollar but realized that it was never the same so it always gave me different MPG caculations

So now I just fill to the first click so now I have less chance of getting too many variables

I fill with 11 gallons, but rounded to the nearest dollar. That way I know what I need to do to get over 40 MPG.

Not advocating a full fill as stated before, but re/ cost.

I'd be willing to bet the reduced trips with the extra 100 miles worth of fuel will be more $$$ saved then the cost of reduced FE with the extra 12 to 18lbs the 2 to 3 gals has.

are you saying you can fill 11 gals into your 2007 Fit?
