2 oz acetone per 10 gal improves MPG 5-20% !!!???

Have done over 4 hours of reading on this over the last 3 days.
2 hours into it I was convinced that there IS something to this.

Risk of damage to fuel system at 2-4 oz per 10 gallons is minimal to non existent I believe as guys have soaked various fuel system components in straight acetone for weeks to note slight swelling or deterioration.

Google search
acetone MPG
" " in gas
'' '' increased mileage ....etc and you can read up on it for hours.

This might get your car hooked on sniffing acetone!

Can acetone dramatically increase your gas mileage? | Wise Bread

it really does help, or you do 2oz acetone and 4oz marvel mystery oil, and it improves mileage and cleans your fuel injection and combustion chamber. Works for real I have pulled heads on a car I had for 180k miles with the mystery oil trick and shit looked brand new. Not even a shimmy trying to move the pistons/rings, smoothe as butter. Acetone is pretty much straight alcohol anyway.

true, acetone IS nail polish remover and a main ingredient of paint remover. Alcohol is way different. However that second post has some good points about it removing carbon and other deposits in your engine.

Better MPG or the other almost universal claim that the engines run better?

Lots of options, you can get it in small bottles as nail polish remover

and most importantly, you would want to add it after you fill your tank

You can get Acetone (pints, quarts, gallons) at Home Depot or Lowes. Used to be able to, anywho.

A pharmacy ought to have it, too. (Dad's a PharmD.)

Finger nail polish remover contains fragrances!

You don't want your exhaust smelling like lilacs!

Uhm.... or maybe not. A quote from that article below, emphasis mine:

While I found no conclusive proof that acetone can safely boost your gas mileage, there is abundant evidence that acetone is an active ingredient in many "engine cleaners" and "fuel boosters."

I could have walked away from the subject just after a few paragraphs
but for me, really reading up, doing various googles was an eye opener!

It is amazing how many car forums have a thread on this.

this next link severely muted my skepticism

I could see it, niko.

Tri-nitro-toluene is TNT.

The ONLY hold-back I foresee is its reception by the car's sensors.

Because these cars seem to be really tuned-in to their fuel mixtures and using some additives MIGHT push CELs.

What do yunz think about it?

The reference to TNT is meaningless here. Toluene is just a highly volatile solvent, commonly used in spray paint, and is highly toxic. The nitrates in the chemical formula for TNT are what makes the material explosive. Same is true for the nitrates in gunpowder, and even match heads.

True.

I simply added the reference to denote it's reactivity.

You'll want to accidentaly spill MORE than that. Read this from above from niko...

which is why its good to add 2-4oz of mystery oil too. Combined that shit super-cleans and also lubricates valves, cleans the injectors, you name it. it really helps longevity of the motor. You can seriously pull the heads after 100K+ miles and if you use 2 parts mystery oil to 1part acetone you can eat off the engine if you really felt like it

It did wonders on my Mazda and had some improvements too on the Neons... I used a Pyrex kitchen cup to measure as 1ounce is approx 33ml... and my conclusion is that the exact quantity to pour in the gaz tank vary by cars models between 2 to 3 ounces per 10 gallons...

Didn't tried on the Fit yet but i have some in my 626 trunk so i will try tonight!

Plus, for yout information, Acetone has an Octane Index of 150
