keep in mind that I only have about 10k miles logged on there and I am now at 35K on the FIT. My average would be much lower if I had all tanks logged.

Speaking of which, I wonder when I should change the tranny fluid and if I should use something other than the Honda MTF?

E light just came on just short of 500

I have gone 81 miles past the E light @ 46mpg so that's at least 1.7 gal w/ eng still running

If I can keep the 53mpg tank avg up, I can get 92 miles more till unknown land

585 miles to same point

I have a 1 gal gas can in the car
it's 600miles or out of gas for me

Paul - LOL at your gas can statement

I wonder if your gas light coming on is just because the gas sloshed around in the tank - weird or that damn SG is giving you hell again.

In for another tank - well, this is the worst tank to date since I have been trying to get better mpg

41mpg 405.9miles used 9.9 gallons of gas -

I decreased the tire psig to 51 for this trip b/c I know I-20 sucks as far as road conditions not to mention all the construction they are doing and dead armadillos.

I used CC and A/C at speeds of 70-80mph(flow of traffic) - yes I was stressed about making sure I got to the Airport in time. It was a scorcher today 100+ degrees and the damn hills there and back were killing me.

Smoking hot today (felt like 110 in the car) and 2X longer drive to diff work location managed 53.5 in SG II mpg

I'm still short 16miles, but still runs fine. Not giving up
I'm heading out for a cruse later on.

Came up short of my 600 mile project but gave it all I had. It started missing and I'd say out of gas at 598 miles

The good news for Fit users is I share data on here and I now know what the tank really holds without packing.

12.4gal to 1st click including one (.25gal) more auto shut off after 5 sec wate all on med speed.
I verified the pump before filling by pumping 1.00 gal into my marked milk jug. It was spot on.
So when the owner manual 10.7
that's to the E light more or less and the 1.8ga is a real reserve so 12.5gal US tank

I went 600.4 miles on 12.4 gal or 48.26mpg

Maybe a tad better because when I started to die I pulled over and added a measured 1.0 gal us and than went 2.5 more miles to the station

Gas was $3.83/ gal reg

WOW!!! Great work Paul!! Dang 2.1 miles off! I was rootin' for you man.

+rp for the willingness to go to true E. That's an outstanding data-point right there. Makes me know I can hit my 500 mile tank w/o too much worry.

I have over 2000 mile on my fit. MT Stock, K&N Filter.

Best 46 MPG with coasting and turning engine off at long traffic lights, get to 5th gear asap.

Worst 39 MPG, normal driving with speeds up to 65 mph

My driving in 80% highway and 20% light city traffic.

Can't complain

HA, great post! i've only run out of gas once before, I was on the highway and my engine started to jiggle.. gas light had been on for a few miles, and I coasted 1/2 mile to the exit and through two roundabouts and when i hit the station my power steering had just started to fail, it was like baby jesus was pushing me to get there!

good to know how much the tank really holds now, though i'm not quite brave enough to test it out on my own on purpose.. and btw that's pretty miraculous, getting the same mileage as most prius owners!

Hey, I was wondering at what RPMs people typically shift. I think I'm actually shifting too low, and making the engine work too hard, but I also don't want to rev TOO high, and lose mileage that way either. People post their MPH a lot, but don't see so much RPM, so was just wondering. Thanks in advance!

I usually shift between 2000 and 2500 rpm, very rarely I rev it up to 3000.

My $.02

Tankfulls #1 and #2, car has ~800 miles on it now. Break-in approximately by the book. Konig helium wheels (11.5 lbs) on stock tires.

#1: 35 mpg
#2: 37 mpg

I don't use any special techniques but I drive pretty conservatively on straights and I use my brakes very sparingly. Turns are another story.

Overall I am very happy with this car.

Tanks number 2 I got a 33.8 mpg tank mixed driving and a trip running aprox 80 mph with cruise control and a/c on full the entire way. This tank wich will be number 3 is looking even better and its been mostly city driving in pensacola florida with the a/c pumping out about 90% of the time.. 35 in town ill be happy..

I'm at the point that I would have to ride with Shawn, Larry or Rich to do any better. To learn. It may just be my route I travel? I can't P&G any slower than 60 to 45 on the main roads that are 80% or more of my hike. They are both 70 posted and the flow is 80ish You guys are way under 50mph I'd guess to get 60mpg? I felt like I was kicking some Major ass this tank with SG reading +53. Then the 48.5 at the pump. Even if I took credit for the SG miles of 615 the FE was just under 50mpg and you guys get 60.

To be honest, I'm sick of no A/C and sweating and arriving spent. I'm 55 and I guess I'm feeling it. That said, I really feel I have proven what I can and I'm pretty much done with this till I see one of you guys or Wayne or Andrew or I get smarter and it cools down. Of course, I'll cheer you two on. Who know maybe that's as good as it can be one the roads I travel?

Rich On the SG, the fuel was off again, even being closed loop with 80ish LOD MAX on the entire tank. All I can think is the SG was confused on the BAZILLION restarts on the P&G/FAS. The miles was 17 short and I think that could be for the time involved (at 60mph) trying to get the eng off Key at I and the Fit not logging those miles and maybe 10 or so times I glided into a stop forgeting to have the KEY II. I think I got my 600 mile tank it hust did not record right. Kind of disappointed it does not do a better job when hypermilling that it does. I mean if you ever looked my records mefore the last moth or so, it's spot on before the P&G or FAS. Soooo What are you seeing as far as fuel and miles errors?

My distance traveled hasn't been off by more than a mile or three so far. But MPG predictions for the tank were 4 MPG optimistic the first fill and 2 MPG optimistic on the 2nd. Yes I've only been through 3 tanks since May.
