How fast were you going on the highway? I'm wondering because I want to maximize my MPG on my morning and evening commutes and I'd be happy to score the MPG you are. I believe I'm on the right track because I have 270 miles and a bit over a quarter tank left on the needle. Thanks in advance!

Well I'm on tank 15 now, 4200 miles and hovering around 38.5 overall. I'm getting ready to put my synthetic in it now. Oil is at 50%

Nice. That's what I've been doing. I'm keeping a record of my mileage and tanks. This last one on 90% highway and A/C on 95% was 36.6 mpg.

Now have over 2000 miles on my Fit Sport MT and have used 6 tanks of gas. Worst tank was 35.6 mpg, best was 40.3 and overall average to date is 38.0 mpg.

I drive fairly conservatively, but usally at speed limit or 5 mph over. All driving was in Colorado with tires at 36 psi. The 40.3 mpg tank was on trip I just returned from in mountains. Several passes over 12,000 ft and some dirt roads. Car nicely filled with bike, camping gear, ham radio equipment, etc. I'm very pleased with the mileage!

Ok I had another trip to Columbus yesterday. I'd say I had 80% freeway and 20% city and the city traffic completely sucked because it was 1 lane construction "25mpg zone" and everybody else was in a huge hurry. Anyhow, I got to work this morning and pull up my spread sheet, plunked the #'s in and here's where I'm at.

Total miles 4770, miles last trip 383.1 gallons to fill 9.093 = 42.1 mpg When I go to Columbus I'm on the clock so it's speed limit/cruise control time. The only time I go over that is if I'm surrounded by jackasses or there's some reason for me to get away from someone/something. Yesterday I had a few zips up to 80 to get around clusters of Semi's and some "special" drivers. Otherwise it was a pleasant day, and 42.1 mpg doesn't hurt my feelings one bit!

White Sport 5spd.

FYI I have logged every tank since getting my FIT. My overall average now is up to 36.91 mpg. I've put 120.58 gallons in my Fit, the average cost per mile is still .08 cents, total fuel cost is $338.08, and average cost per gallon $2.80. I drove very agressively during my first 2k miles and have been driving for mileage since. I would guesstimate that I'm getting 40-44 freeway and 32-36city.

I've got a Base with MT and after 1450 miles and six fillups I'm getting 37.264 mpg and climbing a bit with each tank. 37.404 on the last tank. I'm not being easy on it either, since I tend to put my foot into it. No sense having a MT if you can't rap up the RPMs. I'm using the same pump to fillup so the numbers are accurate. The gas guage seeems right on, with a half tank taking 5.4 gals. to fill. I live in a small town and most roads are 55-65mph. Haven't taken it on the interstate yet.

Just reporting back in. Here's my first 3 tanks:

First fill up, dealer: 133/5 = 26.6 mpg
Second fill up, mostly highway, a/c 90%: 279.3/7.62 = 36.65 mpg
Third fill up, mixed city and highway, a/c 90%: 275.2/8.695 = 31.65 mpg

I pretty much run the A/C when I want to. I try to turn it off during a roadtrip and I'm climbing a hill. The second tank, I also had my wife, but really wasn't hauling anything around. This last tank, the last 100 miles was on the highway and hauling some junk. I'm pretty satisfied, especially with Cali 87.

I’m on my 3rd or 4th tank getting 6.6L/100kms or 35.6 mpg. I drive around 120 km/h or 74.5 mph on the highway and around the speed limit in town. It’s in 5th gear as much as possible. I’m not the fastest off the line, nor am I the slowest. My daily commute is 75% highway and 25% city. Moderate AC use didn’t affect my 3-4 last fill ups.

Mine just rolled 7000kms or 4350 miles today.

I have a manaul base model. I'm around 50/50 city/highway and I get 44.3 mpg.

I baby it big time too. When my boyfriend drives it, I'm LUCKY to get 30 mpg. I think he gets it from driving his tC.

this is tank 17, 40mpg on the nose. My last 3 tanks have all been 40+ I've got over 5k miles on it now. I also just put my CAI on it so we'll see what this full tank does. The more miles I get on this car the more I love it. We're thinking about getting another one for my wife.

Typically don't run the AC unless it's "Africa Hot" my commute is 80% freeway 20% city, generally flatland so no real hills. I almost exclusively buy Marathon gas unless I'm away from my normal spots in which case I'll look for Chevron or BP. I drive the speed limit +3mph "normally" unless someone has irked me or I need to pass some slow ass truckers. I "normally" shift between 2500 and 3000rpms. I tend to drive through town in 5th if I'm going at least 35mph.

FIT Sport M/T stock I was getting approx 33.5 to 34mpg at 75mph most of the time 90% hwy with 1 steep grade for 1.5 miles which I would drop into 4th for and hold 60-65mph. Also a few smaller hills 1/2 mile and a couple 1/4 mile hills, both are fairly steep. I would usually speed up for and keep the rpm's above 3500 since that's where the power is.

I use the A/C 1/2 the time in the morning it's cool out and hot in the afternoon, regular unleaded gas. Only 2 traffic lights on my 31 mile each way commute.

Doing the same run at 70mph it went to 34.5mpg average. I have a heavy foot at times Haven't had a chance to do the averaging yet with the cold air intake, I'll wait until I get the racing header installed along with it before checking it out again.

I have read that if you can keep the rpm's below 3000 the mpg will go up dramatically. At 80mph you're looking at about 3900 rpm's with the M/T. So you'll most likely get about 33 mpg depending on the terrain.

good gas milage

I've got about 6000 miles on my Basic m/t and I'm averaging just over 38 mpg. Best was just over 40, worst was 36 (when I accidentally idled for an hour and a half).

I'm in New England with a mix of rural/highway/city. No traffic jams over a couple of miles, never above 70 mph, not a lot of true stop and go traffic. I'm trying to cut down on the jack rabbit starts...

We have 10% ethanol gas and I run the A/C on low a lot of the time.

My tire pressure is on the low side rather than the high (helped out by nails)

Just did my first oil change at 10% life left.

Sueter, good to hear you're getting good mileage, even on 10% ethanol. I have a MT on the way, but it won't be here for a couple months. I'd be happy if I could average 33mpg, since my commute is about 50/50 highway/city. I'd be exstatic if I got 38mpg!
