wow so the whole time you've had this car and racked up 5000 miles, you've only went to the gas station and filled up 3 times?

edit: nm do you mean you got 180 miles total on the tank?

Presumably you mean that you only got 180 miles on your full tank. (I imagined you'd be delighted with 180 mpg!)

How many gallons did you actually get in the tank? I usually get about 9 gal. in when it reads empty. You need to fill the tank, zero the trip odometer, drive it till it's almost empty, and then fill the tank. divide miles driven by gallons of gas. I have the same car, I do not keep the rpms particularly low and I get 31 city, 35.5 'highway'.

There is a mountain of info on MPG here for you.

I've been unhappy with my mileage; although I have only 1100 miles on the car so far. If I rev the engine, you can see the fuel gauge just go down. On my V6 Outback, it doesn't seem to matter what I do, I get the same mileage +/- 1 mpg difference.

That is horrible. I fill up my tank until I can see the fuel. Some might say overfill. Anyhoo, my last tank I got 417 miles at 39 mpg.

Same here but my commute is combo city/hwy so I get about 270+ miles between refills.

I get about 200 miles per tank, usually about 22-26 mpg. It seems like the ATs get poor mileage. I'll suggest what's been suggested to me, which I haven't done yet: talk to your dealer.

Thats really bad...Are you gunning it? breaking a lot? going up hill a lot?
All city?

A lot of HOW you drive plays a big role in the MPG.

I agree, mine is an AT, see above post. I get about 27-28 at least. The most I have gotten is around 32-33 but thats because I did more freeway driving for a couple weeks. Just depends on how bad traffic is on the particular week or how many stoplights I hit.

well, there you go.. answer solved.

Keep in mind the engine on the Fit is pretty small. so it takes a lot for to get this thing up hill or around other cars. for the next fill up. Try using the Sport Mode and keeping the revs below 3000 rpm.

My commute is about 10 miles each way, there are 34 traffic lights along the way, and it takes about 40 minutes to drive it, so it's very much stop and go. I don't gun it, as there is usually no point, since I'll be stopping very soon anyway.

My last tank of gas got me 26.6 mpg, but that was with about 10% highway, and 5% "coast up to the car in front of me and stop". For 40 minutes and 2 miles, I didn't touch the gas pedal once. I thought that would have cancelled out the highway driving, but I guess not.

I've been reading every gas mileage thread I can find, and I'm doing everything I can to help mileage but nothing really works. Either my car is one of the ones that just gets poor mileage, or the stop-and-go of my commute is really killing it. However, when I did some highway-only driving, I STILL only got about 28 mpg. If I got 27 consistently in the city, I'd have no complaints about the car (except for my alignment being off, a white smudge in the paint, and now the bolt stuck in one of the tires)
