If you get the Skunk2 short shifter then the "shaft" will not be shorter, it will actually sit 1/4-1/2 inch higher but the shifting difference is shorter. I even put on the 5spd Aluminum shift knob too...........ooooooo

I never touched the 350Z shifter as it's pretty nice already... just a little notchy in some gears. Fixed easily by my warrantied transmission and redline fluids.
I have the H-Fit on the Fit and it's pretty good. Shortened the throws and didn't make it notchier either so I'm happy.

well... initially got the FIT because both of my CRX were putting up crazy mileages. i do about 100 miles a day. soooo... i obviously needed to get a car that was reliable. had the car for almost a week now. like the feel... but still not used to the "new" car feel. just wondering though... how the jdm version claims it gets 48 mpg on the hwy and the usdm ver. only gets 38 mpg hwy? besides the 200 pounds of weight difference and the 185 tires to the 195/55/15. is there something that the japanese version has or less restriction than the usdm version that it gets way better mpg on the hwy? i'm on the hwy like 90% of the time with the FIT. thx.
JDM claims are due to the 1.3L
I have one,... it's gutless but good god, great gas mileage!
Still handles the same, just gotta keep the speed up around corners
ic. i was going with the specs that i see on fitfreak.net HOME page. it list both the jdm and the usdm as 1.5 vtec sport. hmm... typos??? would truly love to get 48mpg on the hwy. :P
MPG was a big factor, I wouldn't settle for anything under 30mpg. I got my MT Fit (1.5) last week and my first tank of all suburban/city driving was 30.7mpg. Not bad, especially considering I have very little experience driving a manual!! My old Solara V6 3.0 automatic could only do 18-20mpg in the same conditions.
Looks, utility, and uniqueness were other factors. I've yet to see another BOM Fit on the road anywhere.

Congratulations on your new Fit! Your mileage should improve as you get more experience with the manual. After 6,200 miles on my M/T, I'm averaging 36+ MPG on mostly suburban-/city driving, same as you. Just remember to: avoid jack rabbit starts (unless necessary), and whenever possible, anticipate the traffic ahead so you can avoid complete stops at red lights. With a little luck (in traffic) you'll see that mileage go way up.
Happy Fit driving
Why yes, I did buy the Fit because it seemed to be cheap on gas. I just went through my first tank 2 days ago and only got ~400 KM's from it
However, it was cheap to fill up. Hopefully the A/C defrost mod will help.
