louie3252 is an unknown quantity at this point
Charlotte Nc to Jax FL, 43 mpg w/o ac

drove from charlotte nc, to jacksonville over the weekend, was amazed to get 43mpg with normal driving habbits, no ac the whole drive, speed below 75 using cruise. Way back sucked, 36 mpg, ran AC the whole way... shows what that little compressor can do.
fuel: 89 oct, total trip: 400 miles? each way, maunal transmission, no coasting unless off ramp

Nice. I've done Atlanta to Charlotte with the AC blasting doing an average of 75mph and got 41 before. Something about that stretch makes for good MPGs.

I hear ya. Last September I drove from Columbia, SC to Disney World while hauling ass 80-95mph on SOME stretches on I-95(going with traffic) with the car loaded down(we stayed for 8 days) with luggage and I averaged 39.something mpg but on the way back I only got 36mpg.

Could it have been tailwind on the first leg, headwind on the second? I'm thinking that if you didn't do AC on the way down, you might have had a cool north wind pushing you along.
