Question Turn Signal in Side mirror?

I found this on the web...

Does anyone know if this is a factory option in certain countries or an aftermarket item? Its HOT!

You're actually right. It's also not standard on the type A models too.

Those genuine mirrors cost about A$890 and then you have the cost of having them colour coded painted on top.

They come on the top of the range models in Japan but certainly not on all models. Just like the LED tail lights.

Part are heaps cheaper in HK and Thailand for the Jazz. Huge range of aftermarket stuff.

Isn't a real popular car for modding in Australia yet. Needs to be a critical mass sold. More stuff will become available locally as it gets into the 2nd, 3rd or so generation and the older cars filter down to those people more prone to heavy modding in the 2nd hand market.

The average age of cars on Australian roads is 14 years though this is thankfully rapidly decreasing with record new car sales of close to a million each year the last couple of years (remember the total population is only 19 million).

The mirrors also rotate in towards the body of the car automaticly when you turn the engine off to prevent them getting knocked while parked on narrow Japanese streets.

This'll probably be one of the first group buys once the Fit hits state-side.

If you want the genuine indicator mirrors you would need to order from Japan @ approx A$900 + painting. Highly unlikely Honda Australia will ever bring them in just like the double DIN, sunroof, LED taillights, 4WD system and other JDM features.

I've never been a fan of the mirror turn signals. I've seen them on a handful of various vehicles here in the U.S. (anything from Cadillacs to Ford F-350's) and I find them to be nothing more than distracting.

Just my two cents (first time I've used that phrase! ).

That's about US$680 but the cost would be totally different into the US because of the shipping costs from Japan.

I always look for turn signals at the rear of the vehicle when I'm following. Everytime I see a new Caddy around here with mirror signals, it distracts me. I begin focusing on them and not the road.

Hey, that's my opinion. Sorry.

I think what's needed to consider is the poster's country of origin when they're comparing traffic to what we experience in the U.S.
I'm sure other than Aussie land trains no other group is going to get your issue with floating blinking lights not tied into the rear of a vehicle.
In the U.S. our standard operating procedure is for marker lights to be normally on the side of large vehicles like tractor-trailers.
Our yellow side reflectors (per our Federal reg's) are part of the very front corner of vehicles as well.
Just an issue of perspective,,,

jdmisme is on a distinguished road
If anyone is looking for a used set of JDM Power Folding Mirrors, I am currently selling a full set (mirrors, wires cut after couplers, switch and complete wiring instructions) on ebay. They have scratches so they would need repainting, but that is a given for almost any other set that you could buy. My ebay seller id is jdmisme and I am currently looking into what other items other countries may be interested in buying for the Fit. Let me know via the ebay messaging system as I may not be able to check this forum too terribly often. Here is a sneak preview pic and the link (click on the picture for the link to the auction).

I also have a JDM Fit gauge cluster on a seperate auction... some may be interested in that, also.
