So I just bought my Honda Fit this past February, and I love everything about it except that I drive it so much it constantly gets dirty. About a month after I purchased the vehicle it got sprinkler water on it, and I didn't wash it for about 3-4 weeks after that happened. Now I know I should have washed it right away but I really didn't think it would get this bad. It just so happens I had Marine RV #47 Hard Water Spot Remover in my line up, so I figured what the heck, ill try it out. And since it was so easy, I made a How to for all you folks with the same problems. Side note, this should work for more than just your trim/molding, but I only tried it here.
Items Used:
Marine RV #47 Hard Water Spot Remover (Mine came in a spray bottle.
Microfiber Towels (I didn't use these exact ones)
Last Touch Detail Spray (I Love this stuff)
Time Required for this job.: 20minutes
1. This is what I had to start with, so I first started by washing the car.
2. I pretty much followed the directions on the bottle, spray on the infected area. (it says to let the spray set for 20-30 seconds, but it also says do not let product dry.) Since I was working in the shade I let the product set for about 2-3 minutes to really let it work in.
3. Wipe off product.
4. Inspect results. I was pleased with the first round, but I really wanted to try to remove more of the water spots. So I re applied, and this time I applied it to the whole right side molding of the car.
5. After the second application I was happy with the results. I proceeded to spray the areas I worked on with Last Touch Detail Spray 1:1. (If you are working on a majority of the car I would recommend washing the car again.) The bottle says you can just wipe the #47 away, but it didn't seem that way for me. And here are the results.
Can't see it that well, but this is the whole side I did.
