Recommendations of tire dessing that does not promote dry rot?

So I've heard that the use of tire shine that contains silicone causes dry rot because it draws all of the oils out of the side wall. I'd like to hear what you all have to say.

I use black magic matt finish it supposed to bring out that new tire look and it does,it doesnt sling and its not oily. You can touch it and your fingers wouldnt be greasy at all.Its the best tire shine!

ah very cool. black magic is pretty surprising actually. i used their wax on my car and i've never had water bead like that before. so i guess i have to give that a try

I've got the NXTtech wax on now and it doesn't bead like the black magic did

That bead looks cool. But I wonder, if it beads up like that and the sun drys it afterward, wouldnt there be big dirt circles?

most likely... haha if i lived in florida with the crazy unpredictable rain then sun it would be really annoying, but that hasn't been a problem for me living in the northeast most of the time. because it will slowly get cloudy then rain then slowly get sunny and by that time there usually isn't really any water on my car because of driving it or it will just be late in the day before the weather clears up..

With wax the beads will not dry into the clear coat causing waterspots. Think of wax as a jacket for your skin. The paint/clear coat itself will not get wet. If it gets wet and dries it will go through your wax before it gets waterspots. If you get waterspots you need to re wax. I live in FL and have never seen a waterspot on my car.

Also NXT tech wax isnt a wax. Its a synthetic sealant that is just awful

Pick up Meguiars #21 synthetic sealant and top it with meguiars #26 high tech yellow wax. Sealant is more for protection and wax is for looks. You should always have a layer of synthetic protection underneath a carnauba.

As for the tire gloss I have tried over 10 different products and the only one I use is Zaino Z16. www.zainostore.com

good points... yeah i know it's a sealant... i'm coming out of winter mode here from the harsh road chemicals they put down in the winter

as for the tires... using a quality product like Zaino i expected that to cost a lot more than what it is..

I just used up the last of the Z16 I had, good stuff. I've been using 303 lately, also nice. I like to stick to water based dressings as opposed to silicone based but thats just me.

i dont know about that. ive been using meg's insane shine
the last 3+yrs since its introduction in the spray bottle and
never had one tire go bad.

infact, water based dressing works well to get that nice
satin finish, but doenst last at all. basically one rain and it's
all gone.

since i can't find InsaneShine any more locally, i bought a bottle of
HotShine in a spray bottle which i think is pretty much the
same. i only use a small amount so none of that glossy
glazed donuts look.

nice! i use hotshine too! its pretty decent, but i love the spray ones so much more than the foaming ones, the fomaing ones are so bad. and it gets all over the place. with the spray just make sure that you don't spread it too hard with a towel or else you just end up soaking it all up, i did this a few times, and i'm like wait...didn't i just shine those tires?
