Quick Detailer/Wax Booster Spray Questions?

I know that wax removes wax and you should not wax your car more than once a month. I typically wax every 2-3 months personally. Right now I have a bunch of left over NXT stuff that I'm trying to use up before I move on to better recommended Meguiars products.

My question is regarding Meguiars quick detailer/booster wax sprays out there (The kind you mist on, and wipe off). I like to use them after I wash my car mainly on the front bumper, hood & roof, and getting water spots off that I missed while drying.

Am I removing wax by doing this or is perfectly okay to use these products after washes?

They shouldnt remove wax. In fact it is a very good idea to use a high quality quick detailer after every wash as they can add an extra layer of protection over the wax and make it last way longer. Also removes water spots created while drying.

I recommend meguiars ultimate quick detailer (black bottle). Can be found out at walmart. Leaves the paint looking glossy and adds another sacrificial layer of protection over the wax.

you're not removing any wax.

but you should really try Prima Hydro. much better product.

As far as water spots go, I usually wax my car w/ Meguiars 21 (and a good clay before hand). I have a 3 1/2 year old son plus a house to maintain and work 45 miles away so I need fast performance out of my washes. I usually skip the detailer because I use the Mr. Clean auto wash, as infomercially as it seems it does a great job, I never get spots after a wash and it eliminates me having to drag a chamois over the paint which I think can pick up left over debris and possibly scratch my paint. Plus, hand drying is a pain in the ass! My Fit is TW and doesn't show as many spots although I've used it on my '04 Accord (grey), '06 Si (habby red), and my wifes Accord (red) and don't get spots. Sorry, just my 2 cents.

Mr clean should only be used as a final rinse after you've washed the car. It works horrible in washing the car but the filter in it does work.

And a quick detailer isn't only for removing waterspots after a wash. It gives the paint a little more protection, extends the life of the wax on it, and gives it extra gloss. Quick detailer on wheels works awesome btw. After a wash of course.

Meguiars 21 is an awesome product but it is not a wax. Its a synthetic sealant. It will give the paint lots of protection and has lots of durability but doesn't make the car look as good as wax. After you apply 21 wait a few hours and apply meguiars 26 over it. Then do a final wipedown with a quick detailer to lock it all in and you'll be golden for a few months. I know some people don't have the time for all this but in the end it will make it much easier to wash and dry the car. Not to mention it will look flawless.

I coughed up for the paint protection sealer by dealer at time of purchase. Supposedly I will never need to wax.

I use Mr Clean to wash. It is great for no water spot finish. I picked up a bunch of them on sale here last week. A complete kit was less than one of their filters normally.

I need a bug coloured paint for the front of my Taffy. I just got back from a 500 km trip and it was guts and gore all over the front. I find though if I just wet it down with cold water first then wash the rest of the car by the time I get back to the front they come off easy. Also any nylon veggie bag works wonders without scratching the finish to remove the subborn ones.

I would if I didn't think that people wouldn't read the whole thing. Plus a lot of people already have pre-conceived notions about the right way to wash their car and are usually stubborn about it. Ill start working one on anyways. And if anybody has any questions don't hesitate to PM me.

As for the magic 'sealer' provided by the dealership, its a gimmick. There is no wax or sealant that will require you to NEVER have to wax your car, and if there was, it certainly wouldn't be in the hands of the brain dead dealership employees. Whatever they put on your car WILL wear off just like any other sealant/wax.

Also use a clay bar to remove guts from the front of the car. Re-wax afterwards as clay baring will remove wax, if there's any left after the highly acidic bug guts get to it.

meguiars ultimate quick detailer (black bottle) - application questions.

is it normal to go thru an entire stack of 1'x2' MF towels for one, whole car application? one towel is good for a section slightly larger than the hood, then it's time for a fresh towel...otherwise I'm swirling product around until my arm falls off. what's yer take on spray amount, say, for the hood?

application-to-wipeoff time...yes, i've read the instruction, but just curious if folks allow the detailer to hang around for a few seconds after the wet wipe-down? or do y'all get it off/dry immediately?

any harm/foul if a spot is missed and the product self dries?

in-between washes - what's yer take on using this detailer between washes? i've read where several folks do this, but I can't shake the thought that this is wettin-down dirt, and spreading it around...?

You should really only need one towel for the whole car. You shouldn't be using this if its too dirty. Its meant to remove light dust and dirt. A quick detailer is best used ommediately after a wash or to remove bugs off the front. Using it when its too dirty will cause swirls. Also its best you wipe it off as soon as you spray it on although it won't do any damage if it dries on the paint, maybe just a couple of spots.

You might need a better quality mf towel. But at first it will look like its streaking but will dry up afer a couple of seconds.

when i QD my hobby cars after a drive or two, i use about 8-10 towels
per car. this is detailerparadise's platinum MF detailing towels. i use
a very liberal amount of Griot's SpeedShine or ligher amounts of
SprayOn Wax depending on the level of slickness left on the car.
the more towels you use, the less dust you will drag along the car.
dont go cheap on QD, use a lot... to the point it's almost about
to drip down the panel.

as far as QD'ing dailydrivers.... just wash the car. unless you
use high lubricty sprays such as griot's SprayOn Car Wash,
you will end up swirling it making more work down the road.

for bird crappage i use Prima Slick. unlike griot's QD it is
polymer based so i can use it on warm (up to borderline hot)
surfaces if necessary.

Ok...I'll just stick to QD after washing. Not sure on the MF towel quality...a stack of nine towels, blue, green, yellow from PepBoys, no idea what brand they are. Maybe I'm just putting too much on...or, being too anal about the wipe-off? These smaller MF towels become soaked after, say, doing the hood, and one quarter panel. I'll keep experimenting with other towels. I can easily go thru 18 - 20 of the hand sized towels between the QD interior + exterior, then Stoner Invisible Glass on all windows...add a Rainx treatment, and there's another two towels.

Sounds like your using too much of that stuff. It should be sprayed on lightly. Probably two sprays for the hood one or two for the doors etc...

good stuff, though, that Quick Detailer. we've had mad rain the past 4 days, and maybe it's just in my head, but it appears to hold-up a little better after a 50+ mile commute in all-day-rain. the past few mornings, I expected a horror show of road dirt and water spots waiting for me in the garage...still dirty, but not so bad.
