Long Term Storage - Use a cover?

I'm going overseas for about three months. I can park my Fit in a location where it would only have direct sunlight during the second half of the day. Should I get a cover for it?

I've heard horror stories about those covers doing pretty serious paint damage from the wind blowing and rubbing them against the body...

Definately get a cover. You will be shortening the life of your paint, and interior. Get a high quality car cover that has a lock. I have this one.

2009 Honda Fit Covercraft Noah Car Cover

Its a custom fit that has pockets for the mirrors and antenna. Also uses a bungee for the bumpers so it fits extremely snug. UV proof, water proof, and soft on your paint. Comes with holes and a cable lock so you wrap it underneath your car. There is 0 chance of this cover blowing off of your car.

So its really worth spending $200 on a cover vs one that is sub $100? I really need one..

if its only for 3 months i would just polymer seal it and just let it be. new cars sit at dealers more than 3months sometimes...

if it's more like a year then yah, i would get a cover on it.

There are many types of breathable fabrics available. The big difference in price between the cheap covers (and tarps) and the good covers is due to the breathable fabrics. Never ever cover a car with a non-breathable cover. Condensation build-up under the cover can do lots of damage.
I have the max cover from empire its a 3 layer cover made from Tyvek developed by DuPont.
