BTW, it won't just read "A". The minder will have a corresponding number alongside the letter ie. A1, A2, etc.

100 % positive. i have the book right here.

A : Replace Oil
B : Replace Oil and Filter
and so on....

there doesnt have to be a number. the numbers are just sub items for extra stuff that needs to be done. either A or B will pop up not both. (Page 173 of owners manual)

1.Rotate tire
2.replace filters
3.replace tranny fluid
4.replace spark plugs
5.replace coolant.

the only one that would come up regularly would be rotate tires.

so yeah according to the manual only replace oil filter with oil change when B pops up. but like i said i always replace my filter at every oil change anyways.

HOWEVER!!! i am in the US and the Canadian manuals and MM's might be slightly different.

Arrow When to switch to synthetic oil?

Is there a "best time" to switch to synthetic?

Thanks,

I switched at 15K at my second oil change. Most agree that you should run the regular and clean out the debris to start.

i changed it at 10,000km (i just did it)

I used Mobil1 and an OE Honda filter. I IMMEDIATELY felt a differance. There's NO more valave noise when cold. The car seems like it's working less and more free-reving. (It could be just that i'm more sensitive to it, but i really do feel a differance)

you use the usdm s2k filter on your fit ??

how many times have u used it (# of oil changes)

any problems with leaks ??

how's the fitment ??

I'm thinking of using either the s2k filter or a bosch filter if i can find one in the correct size.

At this day in age, I've never had any problems switching to a synthetic oil on a new car. I did so at just 1000miles on my S2000 and if I was going to run syn in my Fit I would not be concerned about doing it too soon either. It's your call really.

I've heard from various honda tech's on here and where I purchased my Fit to NOT change the oil until the 5000 mile mark.

I'm not too sure why, but maybe just wait until 5000 miles to be safe?

it probably wont kill the car to leave the dino oil in the car until 3000 miles. just leave it til then to be safe and change it to synthetic after that. this way you can be sure about proper break-in now and have the peace of mind about the synthetic oil later.

Check this link...makes sense to me...u decide if he makes sense or not.

Break In Secrets--How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power

Besides..does the Fit engine really need syn oil?
I can understand high stress engines like Evo's Sti's S2's etc etc.
I'd went with Mobil 5000...

I'd wait until the oil light goes to 5%, then decide. The oil in it right now should be good enough! I've had no problems (hit the 1,000 miles), and am going to wait until it goes to 5%!

Just changed mine today for the first time. Maintenance Minder hit 15% at 5747 miles with the factory oil. Refilled with Mobil 1 Synthetic and a Mobil 1 filter.

i wouldn't do it untill at least 10,000km. I did mine at 10,554km. I switched to Mobil 1 5w/30. (with the OEM Honda oil filter)
