Has anyone replaced a side mirror?

I finally got the door panel off and realized that the mirror mount points are almost completely behind the metal of the door! Has anyone done this? Am I missing something? Any help will be greatly appreciated...I'm tired of taping it on with duct tape and am seriously thinking about getting some hose clamps and leaving it ghetto fabulous.

I've seen the part your talking about, but it seems you will need to roll the windows down or all the way up and use a long extension to reach the bolts. If I remember correctly there are holes or slots on the metal to reach the bolts.

Can you take a picture?
Sounds like you just need a long extension.
