PRM Intake Cleaning?

I just put on my PRM Intake but now I'm concerned about the cleaning. I read that it must be cleaned 6 months to a year from the installation but I'm wondering if cleaning it is a necessity? Would there be any extreme consequences if it was NEVER cleaned? The intake was put on at a shop and I'm scared to remove it from my car. If anybody can make a DIY of removing and cleaning the intake, that would be great.

I know this is pretty wussy of me but I don't want to damage my car in anyway. Even though 6 months to a year is a long way from now, I want to be prepared for when that day comes.

Thanks in advance FF'ers.

Get a K&N filter cleaning kit first. Only one ring to loosen to get the filter out. Follow the cleaning kit instructions to clean the filter.

You loosen one or two hose clamps and take the filter off. Clean with K&N kit, put it back on and tighten. Can't get simpler than that.

you don't even need the kit after 6 months. just take the filter off and blow it out with an air hose

thats not a good idea, if you have to, you should only do that with a paper only filter. this type of filter has oil on it witch holds on the the dirt. thats why you need a oil type cleaning kit. its a degreaser and reoiler. if you used a air hose you will just make a big mess blowing oil all over the place

very easy to clean filters. use disposable gloves while you're at it.
