2007 Fit with original battery

I have a 2007 Fit which I bought new. Now that it's 2017, should I replace the 10 year old battery? I've not had any problems with it...but I'm wondering if the battery is getting kinda old.

I've seen batteries last that long, it's not unheard of.
But if it is seriously 10 years old, I wouldn't trust it.
I'd expect it could die at any time, and plan or act accordingly.

I just replaced a pair of 10 year old batteries in my motorhome. They were not bad but I broke off one of the pots trying to get a cable off to clean it. I would run it until I started having problems. Those little batteries are expensive.

I thought I was kool, our OEM Fit battery lasted eight years. The key was to monitor the electrolyte level.

It gave warning before it failed, tho'. Turned the engine over slow on cold mornings, so we replaced it (with the larger 51R).

wow!!! I think 10 years is a miracle actually......congratulations. Yes, as our Garden State friend said, get the 51R at Costco or elsewhere. It will snuggle into position and you will have to get some inexpensive terminal post shim caps since the terminal posts (on the Interstate battery anyway) seem to be thinner than the OEM 151 battery.

I replaced my OEM batter at 5 years. It wasn't having any symptoms but tested bad. Also a bad battery isn't good for the alternator.

I replaced ours at 8yrs and just under 100k miles.
It was cranking slow when cold and I didn't want the starter and alternator to have issues because of this amperage draw.
Went Honda OEM battery because it was actually just as much as Autozone with my local 'Loyal Honda Owner' discount. We own 3 Honda's and they tend to cut me breaks as often as they can.

Time to replace it. Mine lasted 10 years until this past summer, and when it died, it died 100% in the space of 5 miles. I limped on the alternator to the nearest AutoZone. By that time it seems I fried the alternator and some other components. Cost $600 to fix, plus a new battery on top of that.
10 years is awesome, though.

With it getting so cold here last week(-5F) my prior Honda battery that I bought in Feb 2012 was having issues with a very slow crank and I was worried it was going to cause issues with both the alternator and starter so just decidedto replace it. Ended up at PepBoys picking up a Bosch one this time with a few extra CCA’s and cost was ~ $114. The OEM battery back in 2012 was $84, same battery today at same dealer was $150. I’m pretty impressed with 6yrs as it’s about the size of my riding grass cutter.
