Halcyon will become famous soon enough
At the honda i went to, they had some service bulletin saying to foam the corners of the dash but the dash rattle comes from my stereo/central vents. And not to beat a dead horse, they never fixed it and i accept it as my car's only flaw.

interesting idea with the club grip.

im not sure if i heard the same dash rattle this morning, but something
was rattling and the temps outside was about 10F. will monitor the
situation for a week... might need to make a stop at nevada bob's.

Geez, over the last two weeks, my dash has started sounding like a box of marbles from oen end to the other, it's awful. Will have to figure out how to take the dash apart I guess. I can handle a couple rattles, but this is truly insane what I've got going here!

Cool Dealer fixed my rattling dashboard

I had the same problem with my 2007 Fit Sport AT. I am from Brooklyn NY and the rattling noise gotten worse this winter to a point that I couldn't bear it no more. So I brought my car to Bayridge Honda here in Brooklyn. After 2 visits within 2 weeks the guys there had managed to silent the dashboard once and for all. When I brought my car in the second time, the tech there offered to test drive with me. We both could hear the noise and he could pinpoint where it's coming from during the test drive. He told me that he called the Honda tech-line during my first visit and he was told that there is no official fix for this problem and that the tech-line suggested to just apply foam tapes within the dashboard to mute the noise as much as possible.

Long story short, I got my car back last night and the dashboard is as silent as my dad's CRV. Of course the work is done on warranty and I don't have to pay a dime. Kudos to the guys at Bayridge Honda.

Our new Fit already has two rattles that I can hear. Not what you expect from a Honda. The 1995 Civic we traded rattled less. I will try the rubber wedged between the firewall and vent duct to see if that helps the dash rattle.

Question: Are the rattles that everyone experiences noticeable on smooth pavement or just over bumps?

The reason I ask is that I have both rattles over bumps as well as a ticking/chattering sound coming from the front passenger side. It seems to be coming from the A pillar/dash area. Anyone experienced this? I can live with rattles on bumps, but the chatter is ALWAYS going...it's most noticeable between 55 and 65 mph though. Any ideas? Is this perhaps a loose heat shield somewhere or something loose in behind the dash?

I know this is an old thread but I was wondering if there was a TSB for both of these rattles mentioned in the OP. I have both the dash rattle on bumps when it's cold and the one on the driver side locking mechanism.

With all the replies here I would really hope Honda would release a TSB on this.

There is tech bulletin. my dealer has had the car three times. the rattle from center is HVAC cable that also rattles around. The driver side locking mechanism is a new one on me. I now have driver side window rattle, but at 40K the vehicle is out of warranty.

possible fix

dunno if any one is still interested in this but i just got my car back from honda because like all of you this rattle really irks me. i have the dash rattle on the passenger side. happens usually when i drive over rough roads / intersections. so i dropped it off a few hours ago at Honda and just got home with it. while i was there the service guy told me that it was the glove box. so i rode around with a tech and he just told me to turn the radio up. (jokingly, at least) so i start uppercutting it and of course its rattling. they tried to tighten it up a bit by placing some sticky felt around the glove box but it still didnt work. the service rep gave me some of the felt to take home so i decided to see what i could do with it. hhhhanyway. it only rattles when the box is closed/in contact with the rest of the dash so i looked at the hook/clamp whatever thing. and

take that!
uppercut, downercut, Chuck Norris roundhouse. no noise! but uh yeah...hopefully this works for all you guys with the terrain rattle. good luck!

I'll give that a try. I just figured that it was our old Civic haunting us. It had the same glovebox rattle.

I'm having this same problem of a buzzing/chattering noise coming from the passenger front pillar area when the car is moving at 50-60mph.

Has anyone figured out the source of the noise?

Please help... it's driving me nuts.

I just started getting the noise today after I had the first service performed. I know however, that nothing under the dash was touched, and that the cabin air filter was not inspected. It may have been going on for a while now, but I was able to hear it due to the radio being off completely. It seems to be either coming from the glove box and passenger airbag area. The top left corner of the airbag cover doesn't sit completely flush like the rest of it does. When I tap on this slightly raised piece on the corner, I can duplicate the buzzing sound I hear.

Is there any chance that I can get the dealership to replace the airbag cover? I've been contemplating getting a dashboard cover because you can clearly see the imprint of the airbag assembly on the top of it. Maybe this way I won't have to get a cover and can lose this buzzing.
