When removing the stock exhaust

when removing the stock exhaust, does it just take a lot of man power with both bolts, or is there something i'm missing? lol

the axle back? should be minimal torque.

for mid pipe to header, use a closed wrench and a small mallet if you can't
get it. tap it off. use short bursts than long pulls.

yah, use a closed wrench or socket with breaker bar and use
a mallet to tap it then. otherwise you're going to need a impact gun.

Soak it up with some WD40 or something. It should come loose pretty easy.

which side of the bolt are you trying to break free? I haven't looked at the fit rear exhaust bolts yet, but some exhausts have a nut thats made into the flange

When I pulled off my muffler the two bolts from the axle back were really tight. I needed to get some good leverage on the ratchet to get them moving, then it was fine.

i just use my rigged breaker bar. i just take my big pipe that i use to lift my jacks. and i shove my wrench in those so it gives me an extra 3 feet of leverage and it takes no effort to remove those bolts.

that's a great way to add leverage to a wrench.

more leverage = less work you actually have to do

yah, if your car's on a lift then sure, np...but if you're under jackstands
and need 3ft of clearance that's a lot of space you need to work in.

i'd just do the 3/8 drive breaker bar and a mallet. works every time.
WD40 trick is good too for last resort. if that doesnt work, get an
impact gun.

yep when i took mine off i decided to lift the crap outta the fit just so i can get more movement. bolts came off pretty quick. Some WD40 would prolly also help it a lot.

well if you need more clearence then i guess find a shorter pole. my poles detach into smaller stems. 1 1/2 feet long i would say. you know what i have also used and it works GREAT. is a club, like the things you lock your steering wheel with. you take the locking part out and use the base(with the rubber handles) and stick your wrench inside that.

i learned that from the junkyard junkies that love to find parts there. heh

Sorry to bring this back...I was trying to unbolt those two sucker today with no luck. I feel silly for asking this...Should I unbolt the "head" (one facing the rear) or the back bolt (one facing the front)?

The back bolt seems to be 15mm and need a deep socket. However, the bolt on the passenger side doesn't have enough clearance for deep socker, how did you guys do it?

I am a mechanic retard today but at least I got my undercoat done (that $15 bucks Bondo stuff is worth it...thanks AppleMac Fit for showing me how).

Any tips is appreciated. Will try again tomorrow morning.
