thanks for the replies guys, i went ahead and bought the AFE Pro Dry S stock air filter replacement. I am lazy myself :-D so the cleaning method works out great. Gains are minimal as expected. But you can tell it's better than stock. It's a given.. but no where near the power output H-Fit supa sucka, PRM/Injen CAI had given me.
I recently had to change my battery. While I did that I took off the short ram intake and put the OEM back on with the OEM replacement K&N. It does not sound as loud and the intake temp went down. Hmmm. I am under understanding that cool air is good. Should the car get better mileage? I think that probab;y the CAI is better but I will not take my bumper off every couple of months to check the filter. It seems to me that since it is much closer to the road... ?!?
A lot of hypermilers look for ways to make their intake air warmer, because warmer air uses less energy and saves gas. Colder air is denser and improves performance, but does not necessarily improve gas mileage.
The reason your intake air temperature went down with the stock system as compared to a SRI is that the stocker pulls air in from that same inner fender area that CAI's use. In fact there are "ram air" vents in the left-hand corner of the lower grille to force air into that cavity. Compare that to the SRI, which draws air from the engine compartment.
did I see correctly: a "short ram intake" for $660.00?!? Ha... Ha... Ha... ha hahahaha
Got the short-ram-intake-engine-stutter... tried to upgrade; got rid of it... the upgrade that is... put OEM + K&N filter back on... let the car computer relearn and got rid of most of the stutter. It has to be a problem with the ECU... think of it: all of my wasted $$$!

If you haven't changed your plugs that could be the cause of the stuttering....Also consider a vacuum leak, bad fuel, dirty injectors or a coil with a cracked winding that will eventually quit firing altogether.
PEEEPS!!! how much whp does the mishimoto intake gives? the j's racing one gives you 5 whp and more on the crank. ill get whichever has more whp thank you. i found a place where to get the j's racing intake for usdm fit
I know quite a few pages back someone asked about CARB approved intake's but i am wanting to know if there is an update on this. Are ANY intakes carb legal for the GD yet? Reason i am asking is because i am thinking about trading the Fit in and i really do not want to have to convert back to OEM because its a pain in the ass and i just would rather spend the money for a very quick install.
