I'm going to be pulling off my valve cover tonight or tomorrow and I just wanted to see if anyone out there with a service manual could please let me know how much torque to use when re-installing it. Thanks

8.8 lb/ft for the valve cover
17 lb/ft for the intake manifold Manifold to head? or Upper to Lower manifold
well that's what the local dealer told me
I'm going to try and get my valve cover along with some other misc. stuff powder coated before the meet on the 28th, so input would be greatly appreciated...
the hell? Dude when I painted my valve cover I just tightened the 2 bolts back down tight as they were when I removed them. I don't worry about torque specs. If something was a bitch for me to unscrew, I'll tighten it back down as much as I can.

Yo man, I'm not talking about that cover (green) in your sig... I'm talking about the actual valve cover underneath the intake manifold. And sometimes tq specs are important so gaskets seal correctly...

this man speaks the truth. torque specs are important on every bolt. ESPECIALLY on moving parts and parts that have to create a seal. it would be foolish to overlook torque specs.
I tightened my valve cover (3 times now) to the German torque spec: Gütentight. As long as you tighten them center out on alternating sides (IE: center bottom, top-left center, top-right center, bottom left, etc) and you should be fine. I do the same thing with my intake plenum and throttle body. These seals aren't under much pressure, so it's not too critical. If you're putting on an oil filter sandwich or something, then yes it matters. These both have squishy rubber gaskets, so if they're still squishy (and rubber) then they shouldn't have any problem sealing.

well then I guess I need to torque down my coilovers and the rear swaybar and the lugnuts because they're all wrench-tight
lol, are you serious or is this a sarcastic remark??? If so then f me I guess for trying to figure out something usefull about my DD... This is not a race car so I understand somethings can go with just "Good and Tight" But seeing as though its the valve cover, and I don't want oil to leak OR the intake mani. to leak, follow...?
