Haha yeah, I was just looking through your threads and noticed you were on the fence on which kit you were planning on running. About the group name we definitely should. LoL

why is it that under the mugen header it insinuates that they make good looking stuff, but with no performance to back it up? if there is no dyno to prove the 5 % gain all over the rpm range like king m.s. claims, why is it getting kinda dissed on?

as far as honda motors go, i agree with the fact that the fit is more powerful down low. the dyno may say differently, but it takes very little to get the fit going. its almost like the harder you rev, the less your car moves forward.

its like our cars own everyone from 0-10...

Mugen isn't getting dissed on, it's just that Mugen isn't a 100% performance driven company, unlike J's, Spoon, etc... Mugen's stuffs are usually pretty well balanced between performance, appearance, and daily street.

they are no more less performance driven than any of the other companies you mentioned. remember, j's makes bodykits too.

its just that the post clearly states that they are not known for their performance products, which is probably the furthest thing from the truth possible, as not only do they have good results, but they do it at OEM quality.

they are totally about performance.

I said Mugen lacking reputation for having the "best" performance parts. that doesn't mean they don't make good parts, just not the "best". Try to find me a single part thats made by mugen that has the highest performance.

bodykit is actually a very big part in the japanese tuner world. after all, Aero is what sets them apart with the US cars. Remember, time attack cars are racing at a much higher speed that they actually do need the Aero parts. TFTF gave them a bad rep, thats all. Find me a purpose built track car that doesn't have some sort of Aero parts on.

The reason I said J's is a performance driven company is because they are. Just look at their exhaust system for the fit. Not the best sounding one, but the lightest. Most after market test pipe and b pipe have a resonator so they can sound better, but for J's, it's all performance. Not always the finest, but the fastest.

I have been dealing with them since the early 90s, so I think I know them well enough, do they make the finest parts? Yes, Fastest? No.

I like Mugan's stuffs don't get me wrong, but like you said, they make things at OEM quality, thats because anymore, they have pretty much become an OEM tuner, like STI, Mazdaspeed...etc.

Is the new Mugan civic si nice? of course. Is it the fastest Si? Nope.

Megan Header Question

I'm considering getting the Megan header but I'd like to get more opinion on what kind of set up folks have on their car and what kind of "butt" dyno are they getting and how much low end or top end are lost with the upgrade. Any feedback is appreciated!

From what I hear the Megan header lacks a little on the low end, but once you get into the upper rpms, previous owners have made the comment that they pull pretty hard. Good inexpensive upgrade in my opinion. BTW wingman is selling his for a really cheap price, in case you were looking.

Mine was 230 shipped...oh well. I'll post up in here once I get it installed, probably Sat before I head to Wilmington. Any idea if the weapon R with no muffler will be too loud or not?

I've been seeing a lot of Fitfreakers lately selling their Megan header. Is it because of loss low ends or just not a good header? Are most of the Megan header owner here have upgraded from intake, header, down pipe, cat pipe and axleback? If so what are the pros and cons? I have CAI and axleback at this moment and my performance butt dyno result it has a pretty good low/mid power mostly. I heard T1R has an all around power and might be the best header around.

ldweng is an unknown quantity at this point
I have had the T1R header for about 6 months, and not having owned any of the others I think it may be the best all around. The power starts quite low, and although I debated a long time about spending the extra money over the Weapon R, I have no regrets. Its a lot cheaper than the J's, and the welds and joints are really well done. I just bought the mid-pipe, and may buy the axle back. I have an HFP right now.

I ordered the Weapon R Race Header today and will be doing a full install write-up and review, my review will be comparing the megan header/T1R test pipe combo to the Weapon R Race header which I believe is a good comparison since i have the test pipe on the megan. I am hoping I can get a nice boost in mid range power which will help the most for the type of driving i do. I like my megan/test pipe setup tho it made a definite difference when i installed it

There is a new one out now from A Spec.
Looks very well made but no data available.

BTW, may I suggest that you import photos for each header available. It would complement nicely the description and observations.
