Hi, newbie here, trying to decide which catback to get.
I have an a/t so I think I should go with 50mm catback
these are the only 2 brands that I know of with 50mm exhaust that
is under $500.
Anyone know which is quieter? or performs better on a/t fit?
Are these dyno's truthful or exaggerated? Looks like the skunk2 makes power earlier then injen.
I think both companies are very reputable and have good r&d going for them that either would be impressive. I have the skunk2 50mm personally. Tone is deeper, add a silencer and it's not much louder than stock; without it, it's a nice low tone, a little higher when you open it up on the highway, but nothing ricey, IMO. Honestly though, since you indicated you have an A/T, I don't think you'll get the maximum potential from this mod. Alot of companies, including the Honda HFP axle-back exhaust, recommend NOT modifying the exhaust on the A/T Fits. Same concept with some aftermarket air intakes. I don't know the exact reasoning, though I believe it has something to do with the resonator and sound/dB levels. Since an A/T has pre-programmed shifts, revs aren't maximized. Now, I mean this in the least offense way possible, but if you got a fit to mod and increase performance, honestly the first mistake was to get an A/T. With any car, you'll never be able able to get past the automatic trans. and maximize the car's potential because tons of mechanical/electronic devices and parts have been preset and nothing short of swapping the tranny will change that. if you're set on spending money for aftermarket performance the first thing you should look into doing is seeing if you can find a M/T fit, and trade yours in for it - otherwise I just don't see you getting the most out of your money on exhausts, headers, intakes, etc. Again, all no offense to you; I know often people don't have a choice between A/T or M/T and many simply choose A/T for it's simplicity of use, or any number of reasons out there. Again, all this is simply my opinion. Best of luck to you... In the end, do what you want and it'll make you happy.

Those funny paddles on the steering wheel sure help. You can hold the car in just about any gear on acceleration all the way to fuel cutoff. It will also allow you to downshift but not enough to do something stupid to your transmission. Guess I wasted all my $$$ based on your reasoning.

Tanabe also has two exhaust under $500 Both are under 93 db.
Tanabe's are both axlebacks, so you'd end up paying another 200 for a b-pipe. Skunk2 is good quality but I've heard the Invidia is identical and it's about 100 bux less. I'm looking into the skunk2 myself but am also considering the DC sports exhaust.

agreed. he is soon to be powered by kraftwerks....which is in turn going so far as to supply us a/t fit guys with a 5lb supercharger kit with an intercooler (as you already know wave.)
i think that for someone who wants a fun daily driver without plopping cash on a whole other car, it matters not your transmission. if you are in it for racing and lap times ok, and i see the obvious advantage. (heck i wish my fit was a manual, but my wife would have none of it. i'd love to be able to slap the 10lb kit on there!) will it keep me from modifiying my fit? not. but again i realize that things such as an intake and exhaust are more so to complete the package rather than make noticable gains. (this should hold true for manual guys too.)

This is true, same exhaust but cheaper.

...so question?! which catback is best for fuel economy? Don't get me wrong luv the deep tones, the extra power and that good stuff that comes along with a good exhaust, but for me it's all about the fuel economy. Should i leave stock and try and get my A/T to be as fuel eco. as possible. Or change me exhaust (& intake) so the engin breath's * exhails easier and hope that the car show gains? What do you guys think?

not sure for AT, but on my MT the mpg didnt really change i drive the same as b4. i think ppl tend to drive harder when they get an exhaust so the mpg takes a dip
