Is it worth getting a Carbon Fiber Hood for the FIT?

I'm wondering if a carbon fiber hood is worth getting because the fit hood is so small. Can someone reply back with how much the fit OEM hood and the SEIBON or similar carbon fiber hood weights?

LiL Wee FIT will become famous soon enough
If you are getting the CF hood just to save weight, I think you should put those money into getting some even lighter rims. The difference with lightweight rims would be more significant.

Lil Wee FIT thank you for the very good advice on lightweight rims. However, I was wondering how much an OEM hood and a Seibon hood weigh. One Seibon dealer says that the CF hood weighs 10lbs. However, I don't have a reference as to how much the OEM hood weighs. I'm used to replacing 40 pound larger hoods with fiberlgass ones. However, I don't own a FIT and the size of the OEM hood is really small too. So I was wondering if someone on this forum like BEN at AJ-Racing could tell us the weight difference of the two hoods?

Someone once said you can save as much weight in the car by leaving the spare tire and jack at home. Me, personally, I think I'm gonna spray paint my white hood black with temporary paint And perhaps lose some weight. Yup, that'll save more weight and cost less than a carbon hood

I'm thinking about the seibon too. There is a NY shop that is selling them for around $450 (original style). Great price but still wonder how much I'll be saving.

If you're trying to help weight distribution, you could move the battery to the rear. It would probably remove a similar amount of weight from the front. It should also help the overall distribution more because it would shift that weight to the rear rather than completely removing it.

carbon fiber look cool and they function as a little weight loss, but less weight is always better than more...i would get the rims first...

wait to get the Seibon parts. Seibon has my car right now making various parts (doors, hatches, fenders, etc.) The OEM and MG hood didn't fit right and they are re-doing the mold. Seibon hoods weigh between 16-22 lbs depending on the car. I would assume 15-17 lbs for the FIT hood

In all honesty from someone who has sold carbon fiber hoods... generally speaking, most people are buying carbon fiber hoods are doing it for the look.

The weight savings from going to a carbon fiber hood is pretty minute, considering people are dropping in amps, custom boxes, etc. into their cars.

Lighter wheels is something you definately would notice. You aren't going to notice a difference from a lighter hood.
