Heard about the car, never saw the dyno!

Not really an even power across the bandwidth?

oh, wow, and that was just 10psi? I didn't see the legend on the graph, I wonder if they dyno'd it at 21 psi

no dyno. It was spur of the moment thing at the track. they tested and the car held fine all the way to 18+psi... 21 was just a little too much.

jaebee is an unknown quantity at this point
also note that it says "corrected wheel power", which either means they ran the dyno at the flywheel and dropped the numbers to compensate for the wheels, or (more likely) ran it at the wheels and upped it to compensate for tranny power loss

ie. that result is most likely not real whp, it is most likely engine hp.

and yes, they blew it up, tho I think the L15A could handle 10-14 lb of boost consistently as long as it was set up right, anymore than 1 bar would be pushing it tho, due to the low displacement of the engine and reportedly thin walled block

I remember watching a video of the build of that car and I'm pretty sure I remember seeing the engine on a engine dyno. so that was at the crank power. they were running a pretty decent sized turbo from the looks of it as well.

Yeah that is a superflow dyno. Those are definitely flywheel numbers, why is it that the car only make 95 hp when flywheel. It seems that the ecu auto matically takes out around 12 to 15 percent. Also I agree that this turbo is probably much to big for this application. It most likely was like a gt28rs. I believe that the gt25 is perfect. Actually I think the turbo on the new mini cooper would be the best if the ecu can be set up to work it.

I think it was even bigger than a gt28rs or it at least had the big compressor cover if it was. I'm not sure about a stock mini cooper twin scroll k03 setup. with as high the stock compression is on our engine and the rediculous spool of the twin scroll k03 i'm pretty sure it would murder its self in a quickness. I agree with the gt25r though(aka gt2554r) i'd like to try that turbo. I got a good deal on its slightly bigger brother gt2560r that i'm going to give a try eventually. this economy sure isn't helping things though.

As per that dyno, thats what it looks like. The slow smooth curve looks like spool up, the spike must have been peak boost and the the Fits head flow kicked in.

That mini cooper turbo is like the rdx turbo with the variable blades, which is why I was interested in it. It is nice to see that garret makes a ball bearing turbo in the 25 size as that would be sexy to make close to that 200 hp mark

are you sure the mini cooper turbo is variable vain? Only reason I ask was i was looking into that turbo for possibly putting it on a fit and from what I've found it was a twin scroll k03??? I've even seen pictures and didn't see an extra actuator for the variable vains?? maybe some markets got different turbos? would be good info to know.

Yeah man. These turbos were first introduced on the market with diesels. First on a gas engine with the 997 turbo. I am pretty damn sure the new mini cooper has one as the jcw edition has that "overboost" function as well as the reason it makes peak torque at like 2k.

Twin scroll turbo's on 4 cylinder engines spool like mad which I know is what at least a majority of the R56 mini's came with. vnt technology has been out for awhile. isn't the 997 turbo a newer car? some of the old 80's chrysler turbo cars came with vnt turbo's.
