I got it all installed and took it for a test drive late last night, It had been lightly sprinkling, the roads were damp in places and the temperature was in the lower 70s.... All I can say right now is that it runs like a scalded ass monkey, and consumes mucho fuel when the boost is working. Also the cruise control doesn't work, which is normal and can be fixed with a large vacuum can or an electric vacuum pump.... My damned dog chewed up the plastic fasteners for the body work and I need colder plugs, so it is off to the auto parts store, so I can complete the whole job.
my cruise control works fine and I didn't do anything besides what the manual told me to do...
Got everything working now. The CEL was on and I had gotten some lube on the Intake temperature sensor. I cleaned it up, the CEL went off and the cruise control works fine...... The engine is running pretty cool with the KWSC and it actually seems to take longer for the temperature to get warm enough to cause the cooling fan to kick in at idle, so I had decided to skip the plug change by the time I got to Auto Zone. It must be running richer than it did stock because it sure seems a lot thirstier.
Definitely thirstier. I'm hitting 120 miles at 1/2 tank, but that's with plenty of 6k rpm runs, passenger w/ AC on, bumper to bumper traffic, and hot as hell socal weather right now. So all in all, so far so good for me. Just to let you know, I was getting awful mileage until I ran a bottle of STP fuel system cleaner (gray bottle). After I used that my mileage went from the 15mpg to like 23-24 mpg at the moment (given the circumstances I listed).
Koi, I thought that you had some other problems with your car when I read some of your other posts on your mileage figures..... I had 279 miles on the 1/2 of a tank I'd used prior to installing the kit and have used 1/4 more in 85 miles since, with most of them being on rural roads and highway.... I imagine that we both are having a hard time remembering that the throttle works both ways, but it's fun until you get tired of spend money on fuel or tickets.
I probably do have other problems with the car, but nothing that anyone can find or want to find (*cough* honda dealer service *cough*). At the moment I'm getting a similar enough mileage to what I was getting before the KWSC so I'm just taking that as a good thing. If I wasn't able to fix the extremely low mpg problem I was having before using the fuel system cleaner, I would have been pretty pissed off. I'd love to get higher mileage but I'm not willing to drive around like a grandma especially after getting a nice supercharger kit - I'd rather abuse it and get a good amount of fun out of the car despite all the shortcomings I've run into.
it's taken me a couple of weeks to get my mileage back to where it was before the install...primarily due to me wanting to drive it like an idiot and secondly due to the computer trying to relearn everything...
I'm noticing a low hissing noise when accelerating from the driver's side that I did not notice before installing my boost gauge. My boost gauge is working great now, reading properly up to 5-6 psi at full boost, and I've checked all my connections multiple times to make sure they're on tight - there are no indications other than this hissing that anything might be leaking. Do boost gauge air lines usually emit any noise, or should it be completely silent?
I don't hear anything but a whistling at about 5500 RPMS while accelerating and a hissing when decelerating..... My old Volvo made a hissing sound, I don't know if it was from the boost gauge but it did have one.

A boost gauge won't make any noise because there isn't any flow (it's measuring pressure after all). Make sure you zip tie any connections you make into the system...

Okay, I'm going to go and triple check all connections just to make sure.
Update:
There were a few connections w/o zip ties so I zip tied them up - and now I can't hear the hissing I was talking about. Guess that solves that problem. My mpg seems to be acting up again though... will report back once I hit 1/2 tank on this new tank of gas.
seriously. i hear about dyno and intercoolers and stuff but still no release date. i keep spending my money that is meant for the high boost kit. i might have to put it on my credit card

Exercise some discipline and save for it..... You will enjoy it more not owing on your card, and you won't be feeding the hogs with interest payments..... My life has been a whole lot happier since I quit using credit cards.
So has anybody actually gone out and tried to race with the KWSC... so far all I see is daily drivers.
When I say race, I mean hard core abusive racing with grueling heat and constant hammering on the throttle for an entire day... not a once a month amature events with like 15 minutes of seat time type thing.

i do a little canyon carving (i know i shouldn't don't flame it). i should be hitting up a couple track events when i get my alignment (i know i should have got that right away don't flame me).

Cool, I am interesting to see if the supercharger drenches the engine in heat or if it runs reasonably cool when under pressure.
When you are running right near the redline for a lot of runs I am curious to see if the sustained boost gets a lot higher than the kit spec. I would be afraid to run the L15 on the track with more than 5-6psi for extended periods.

They really need to design some kind of heat shield that covers the blower and piping by the header! It gets ridiculously hot back there now that i am at 10psi. Even with my header and test pipe wrapped. I had to remove the plastic shroud underneath to allow more air to get back in there and to allow more of the hot air to escape.
It is cooler than a turbo, big time and has it's own oil cooler so it isn't as bad as it seems. COOL IT Thermo Inc. makes a header manifold blanket that comes in a 2/pkg for V8s. They were priced at $75.99 at Jegs in their Christmas catalogue.... I have thought about doing this to lower the heat transfer of heat radiated through the firewall....Every little bit of intake air heat reduction helps. Have you bypassed the throttle body heater? I think that is the first place to start and cost less than $2.00.... When and if I am able to afford to go to 10psi I imagine my car will run hotter too.... Your posts about what you have done have been helpful and encouraging..... Thanks for sharing.
it does get pretty hot. i can also say it has been pretty hot down here in CA lately so that might also contribute to the engine bay getting hot as well. i can't really tell you specifics details without any water temp or oil temp gauge. i do have my headers ceramic coated. i purchased a cowl scoop which should help (to bad the blower is on the other side of the scoop).
