I have been day dreaming about water cooling the boost tubing, by fitting a larger diameter pipe over the pipes that allow room and using the appropriate size hoses, a low pressure R.V. sink water pump, and possibly a 3/4"x5"x7" power steering cooler. It may sound grandiose but like I said it is a day dream thing at this time.... Really just a bit beyond brain farts at this time.

i was seriously considering the AEM water/meth injection but i dont think that will do anything for the intake temps although it will cool down the cylinders. Point being that the ecu would still see hotter air coming in and pull timing right?

Yeah the AIT sensor feeds to the ECU that is why the resistor devices work well on this car. They will richen the mixture too much with the super card that comes with the 5 PSI kit or a car that is tuned to run at a lower temp. Or you can add more advance at the higher operating temps and ambient under hood temps (intake air temps)

The method Water / Meth injection works through is LHV (latent heat of vaporization) which is the energy required to transform a given quantity of a substance into a gas. The laws of thermodynamics say that the heat that is present in your charge piping will change forms when it turns the water / alcohol mixture into a gas. So to answer your question, your intake temperatures will be lower with the kit and the AIT sensor will see that as long as the mixture is injected before it. The problem is that I dont think you'll be able to take full advantage of the kit without upgrading to a nice standalone ECU. Your car is tuned for pump gas. I read that running these H20 / Meth kits brings it closer to 110 octane > you can run crazy agressive timing...that's where you get most of the power from...

Thanks for the info i was doing some reading myself and found the same. Not going standalone but being able to run stock timing (although conservative) is better than pulling timing. Plus it will ensure longevity. I can lean out my a/f ratio as well. For now i got the parts to bypass the tb (not expecting much there) and eventually i'm gonna get the header blanket. Then i'll wait and see if KW ever releases the high boost kit to see what their intercooler is like and what others are experiencing with it. Most likely i will be meth injected by this time next year.

Google Snow Performance. Read the F.A.Q.s and you may change your mind about Inter Cooling your car.

it sounds like it may be cheaper to use the water / meth but you are going to have to tune the car to get the benefit...and it won't be cheap. Then you're going to have to carry a jug of water / meth around with you "just in case" it kind of sounds like a hassle. Def not something I want for my daily driver.

I'd rather convert the kraftwerks intercooler to a liquid to air and call it good.

At JEGS.com the Snow Performance methanol/water injector is priced at $280.99.... There are advantages over those that an I/C unit can't give you, like higher octane, more heat reduction and no pressure drop. If you want to use it with the inter/cooler you get even lower intake temperatures..... Yes you do have to tune to get the full benefits it offers, That is the case with almost anything that you do to improve performance, but at this price you get a lot of intake cooling and a cleaner combustion chamber for slightly more than the price of a major brand CAI .

i still wish they would post up pics of how the intercooler will mount and look like. i was hoping for a FMIC because i really like the look of one sitting behind the bumper

I'm not sure if my memory is bad, but I'm hearing a noticeable hissing/rushing air sound when I press the gas - sounds like somewhere directly in front of me - and I feel like I didn't use to hear it before. Is this the sound of the air going through the crossover tubing? Or perhaps my header is leaking? I almost feel like the car has lost power once I started actually noticing this sound, but it could all be in my head. Does everyone else hear a hissing sound (not the sound of the intake or supercharger, something else) when pressing the throttle?

It might be nothing but you could always check the hoses that run from the intake to the BOV. I had that hose come off on me and it made a wierd noise and I noticed a power loss. The air was completely by passing the SC and going straight into the engine.

Hey koi, I have dreams about things like you are speaking of every so often and wake up very pissed off and anxious..... My car sounds different since it was super charged also. It is now a different beast than before and is making these noises to remind you so.... The power loss may be due to the seasonal change in gasoline formulation, and the addition of ethanol. Remember that there is air pressure on the throttle body flapper when it is closed and that would make a hissing sound. I can hear it get very loud when I gear down to slow my car while going down a steep hill.

Thanks for the info guys. I've driven around a bunch and power-wise car feels about the same I suppose. I think the current hot weather in socal is killing it - when it's cool at night the car feels pretty good.

Does anyone have a 4-1 aftermarket header and have comparison dyno between stock & aftermarket?

By the way, after the fuel injector cleaner, my MPG has stayed at a constant 23 mpg tank average, 50/50 city/highway with a somewhat heavy foot, plenty of stop & go, traffic, and hot weather.

How did you manage to get 23 mpg on tank average? I've taken my car to track days and never managed to get 23 mpg on a tank. You must be really driving it hard. Around town I'm still managing about 31 mpg. Check your plugs, mine went bad pretty quickly after the supercharger kit. Had to go a step colder and only at 45k.

Think of it this way, even before the KWSC my average MPG was 26, and best with slow driving + diligent use of the Scangauge was 28. My highest mpg with this car was 30mpg after roundtrip highway 90% to San Diego from LA.

Plugs are pretty new, 1 step colder, that I had installed while I was at Kraftwerks getting the car dyno'd soon after getting the kit installed.

I've pretty much given up on getting good mileage with this car, there's no way I can do it. Driving around like a granny and getting 28 mpg isn't my cup of tea, after I did that for half a year. Dealerships won't help me (because ecu does not throw a code), and nothing I've tried has affected my MPG very much. The difference between driving like a grandma with the scangauge, and driving like a maniac with the Blitz TC on the highest setting was around 2-3 mpg per tank. If you look in the Eco Fit section of the forum, you'll find that most people get great mileage with the car, but a small number of us get just completely awful mileage compared to the rest. At this point I'm 100% certain my driving habits are not causing the low mileage.

For all I know there really is something wrong with the car, but nobody knows what since nobody wants to check (dealers don't care, and can't exactly take the car to a mechanic and ask him to check every factor that could be causing low mpg).

Koi. Are you riding on taller than stock tires?....I am blown away with 23 mpg. I know that an automatic is going to pull down your mpg.... What weight oil? Synthetic?.... Plugs? Heavier than stock wheels? .... The right Wt. Trans fluid?.... Fat girlfriend? I don't know what to think. I can remember that there were some that were getting really bad mileage with their cars on some older post.
