Don't get me wrong, I love the kit and would recommend it to anyone with the money for it. The intercooler setup should really help, please release it soon! Any information regarding CARB status would help too.
haha dude seriously... I was dailying the base kit in 100+ heat all day the past few summers. and I KNOW where i live is at least 10 degrees hotter than where u are. Honestly the power loss in the heat isnt as dramatic as you are making it out to be. I can even still mash like crazy with the AC ON in the 100+ heat. Be glad u dont have a turbo cause i can guarantee the under hood temps are WAAAAAY hotter.

Or maybe the problem is your car? I have personally driven the auto kit in the hot weather with the AC on.... and believe me it definitely doesnt feel stock.

I DO on the other hand get to drive both a stock fit and my boosted fit, so i can constantly feel the difference instead of just getting used to it and it not feeling so dramatic when driving it.

What are you talking about? the Greddy, the HKS and the KW base kits all make pretty much the same power?

The T1R is more boost & bigger injectors of course its going to have more hp.

However do the same with this kit and it will yield the same results.

im am VERY VERY familiar with all the kits out and are all comparable.

When they dynoed the White T1R fit it had similar mods to my car. They were 6psi i was 5psi. I made 142 they made 146. When comparing apples to apples they are all comparable. it all depends on your supporting mods. Im not saying you cant voice your experiences with the kit.

Now you said you have had mileage problems before the kit.... so maybe it is just something with your car like I stated earlier? on the base kit when driving normal I constantly got 36-38mpg and when driving it hard got about 27ish? Even now at highboost I get 32+ when driving normal and about 22 when driving it hard.

BTW have you tried getting the colder plugs?

I would never go back to stock if I could help it. When it's time to go stock, it's time to move on to a new car for me. Hoping I'll have this car with the KWSC for 100,000+ miles though!

thats very comforting to hear.

koi, i think that your fit may have some issues, given that your mileage has stunk before the kit was installed, maybe your kit, or any f.i. is just amplifiying whats wrong.

i dont think i would install this kit without the i/c just to be on the safe side. it doesn't get to 100 degrees here in nc all the time, but the humidity is about a million times worse than it ever is in cali. (as a native californian, i can say that.)

but what really scares me is how hot some of our turbocharged bretheren are running....good grief, if a non intercooled krafterwerks kit is too hot to the touch...imagine kelseys turbo for example. ouch.

It's just that the heat is also amplifying the issues further and grating on my patience.

For the most part, people with the KWSC and people with various Turbo kits are getting very good fuel economy numbers along with the power increase even in places hotter than socal (of which there are many). As JDMChris said, he's running fine and has always been running fine in a region in CA that's always hotter than where I am for the most part. If you're getting great mileage now, you'll probably get great mileage with any FI kit out there.

Just take my experience with the kit as food for thought if you've had any issues with your car and you're still interested in going for it.
for sure man, your posts are always appreciated.

koi...I can't remember if we ever considered the air intake temperature sensor.... I am pretty sure that it is a resistance device and if so it is possible to run a test on it with an ohm meter... you would have to just be careful with the 2 tiny philips head screws when you remove them to pull the thing out... Check the ohms reading warm by first removing the connector and taking a reading while on the car and then after removal after cooling it in your refrigerator. If the readings are the same you may have found the problem or at least ruled it out as the problem.

Actually when the testing was being done on my car while it was on the dyno and after about 6 or 7 runs the piping is cool enough to grab.... as where with a turbo your skin would char and burn off.

Even a perfectly stock intercooled 760 Volvo is outrageously hot after a short drive at highway speeds.... The negative remarks from owner of a turbo car about the intake pipe placement in relation to the exhaust manifold over heating the air entering the KWSC was insane.... Think about it, the KWSC has a separate oil supply and cooler....I had to add coolant frequently on my car before super charging and have yet to once since.

I never even thought of the IAT sensor - I'll check it out as soon as I can.

I hit 5000 miles so I did an oil change, switched to 0w-30 and have to say the car is running smooth with less of an impact from the heat than there was before. Today was a good 90-95 degrees and the car felt much better than it has been the last few weeks. Most likely it's cause it's fresh oil but the 0w-30 is probably also helping things out once the car is taking a beating from the sun & operating temps. I'll post up my MPG after a couple tanks with this new oil and see if there's any significant differences.
