the time has come. i am planning to up the boost to 8psi. i am going to be switching to aem f/ic and since i have to take off my oil pan to fix an oil leak, i figured id throw some rod bolts in. ive searched around and i cant find the part number for the arp rod bolts that will fit the L15. if anyone has it, let me know. thanks abunch.

good idea. my pan is coming off soon as well, yeefit's turbo kit includes a tapped oil pan..
the rod bolts were the week point for the guy that blew his L15 right?
if i remember correctly he drilled and tapped his new fordged connecting rods when he built his motor...
keep me informed, ill check the old motor build post and let you know...
smart thinking ... i am so smart... smrt... smrat... imean....

well you wont find any cuz there are not any, the ARP bolts i have in my rods are in the Pauter custom rods i had made, the best thing u can do is look for there smallest set of rod bolts and have them costome fit in ur rods,
yea i think thats what i am going to do. go buy one from honda and take it to a specialist to make them because they have three things they need to be, same thread pitch (duh) same length and same weight. ive heard that if they are heavier or lighter, that little amount of inertia could mess with the balance of the crankshaft.
Looking at GD3's blown motor thread, I think it was the rods themselves that broke, rather than the bolts. The bolts are weak, no doubt, but on the power stroke you're going to have way more pressure pressing on the rod from the big end, not necessarily through the bolts.
I think we really should push some aftermarket distributers to make some rods. Pauter rods are baller, no doubt, but very expensive. FJT Distributors makes rods for the D series engines... Maybe we can talk them into making a set for the L15 that DOESN'T cost your first born.

yea, rods are nice to have. but i dont think you need them unless you are running 10psi or more. i just wanted to add a little bit more structural integrity to my engine with an easy install like rod bolts. i didnt want to rip apart the engine. my oil pan is already going to be off.
i think they are the 8mm by 1.5 threads bolts but im not sure on the length..... pull the oil pan and pull out one of bolts and run down to an auto store who stocks those bolts and just have them match the size with an arp bolt.

only 8 psi and you are already talking internal upgrades? im shooting for 9 psi on my stock internals. I barely feel a difference right now with my 6psi (even with the spike).
mabe a parts fletch... part numbers with discription would be ideal..
easer to make phone calls to source the arp bolts than drive across hells half acre.... wait..... if my oil pan is off and a rod bolt removed i can still drive it, right?
mabe when i drop the oil pan all the hampsers will drop out. Using them in conjuction with the dog sled i just built, might just be the ticket... mush! mush! u fuzzy little oil soaked bastards, mush!

precautionary measures is my middle name.....well......actually its martin but i am a fan of the dunrite.
so i wrote arp and told them that there was interest within the fit community for rod bolts from them and this is what they wrote me back with. can we say cryptic?

Kelso,
Hello. This is something that is being researched for the future, although nothing is set in stone at the moment. If you have any other questions on this, or any other fastener needs, please feel free to email me at any time. Thanks.
