I give up!

The best I've been able to do is 260 miles to the halfway indicator from a filled all the way to the gas cap gas tank.....hypermileing kills me because I bought the KWSC to enjoy my car, I simply can't drive like grandma does!

So, to those with the A/T KWSC, how hard would you have to drive to get your gauge down this much and only hit 44 miles? I have a feeling I'll be hitting 100-110 miles at 1/2 tank this time. Not sure what is going on this tank, it's much worse than the last few.

This was just normal driving with A/C on 2 most of the time, with around 15 min of heavy traffic.

They live in the North East where the weather is cool and the oil companies can't dump as large amounts of moonshine in the fuel supply..... I think that California urban driving is about as demanding as Dallas or Houston, where you have to fly at low altitudes with the after burner on to keep from being run over.

I can believe that to some extent, and I know I was stuck in hot weather and heavy traffic for a little while - but this sucks to see such a drop after seeing my highest tank mpg on the last tank of gas (25 for the tank).

Honestly, my needle doesn't even move until I hit 130 miles or so. No idea WTF is up with your car but even driving "full tilt boogie" I can't get the needle to move that much after 44 miles. I normally fill my fuel tank all the way to the very top where you literally can not put any more premium unleaded in...do you?

I fill to the first click, so around 8.7-9.5 gallons of fuel depending on how much I drove after the light turns on.

USUALLY my needle hits the "F" when I get around 30 miles down, but on this tank it's been abysmal how fast it's gone down. The only time I saw the needle go down this much was when I first got the KWSC installed and it was giving me 90 miles to the 1/2 tank, before I ran some fuel system cleaner.

Try filling all the way to the fuel cap and see what happens...

I don't understand, are you suggesting that filling up the 1-2 gallons of the piping from the tank to the filler is going to improve my fuel economy? If I topped it all the way up to the filler, I would no doubt get more miles... but that's cause I put more gallons into the car.

I know. I just wanted to see how your's compares to mine. Like I said before, I know it takes about 130 miles or so before the needle even begins to move when I go right to the top.

It's not scientific or anything, I'm just curious.

Hmm I get what you're saying. I'll give it a go next tank and let you know when I start seeing the needle move.

dayum... a k20 swap sounds better right about now... lol all that gas gone to waste with 40+ miles is crazy!!! I hope its all uphill and not straight lines. Anyway, You have to remember, the 5th gear on our cars is damn high, so adding power to a high revving 5th gear isn't good on gas, considering other cars are about 1xrpm lower than ours and just as fast.

Does anyone know what the best way to get a mechanic to look for any and all reasons a car will be running rich w/o setting off any CEL's? Compression test? Check the car for any leaks or vacuum losses? I swear, nobody wants to check the car for anything unless there's a code saying there's a problem, even though the car is obviously dumping fuel for no good reason.
