it was 29F this morning. hahaha yep, i too just turn up the music.

i HATE vibrations that get louder with the engine. as long as i dont
have those im pretty good.

hey, got my dustcover from Griot'sgarage today for my G!!! super
deal too. every frikken year in the winter i open the garage door
and i got powder snow (no not cocaine) all over my G which resulted
in spots. i hated that. this year no more. can't wait to put it on.

tried out the new DUSTOP for my G35C. it reminds me of the factory indoor
covers... perhaps it's the same material. it's light weight but very soft and nice
tan color. this is not to be used outdoors (unless on a dry day).

my G under DUSTOP was about $200.

hahahaha... well, if i dont intend to open the garage during the winter i
wouldn't get a cover, but i still need to take out the trash every week
and on nice dry days im going to be pulling out my MINI, so i dont want
the snow and salt dust blowing all over the car when the garage door
is open.

Yep...like I said....You KNOW you're picky when...

(I'd totally do the same thing. It was a wet/messy/dirty day here today and my car is a mess, and I probably won't sleep too well tonight. Tomorrow the same forecast so no carwash tomorrow either, I'm going to lose my mind driving around such a disgusting car!)

absolutely. my FitS hasnt been washed since early Nov and that's too
far back i cant remember.

im driving my FitS on wet weekend drives now and it's fun, but comes at
a toll.... dirty. i really want to wash the car, but rain/snow in the
forecast for much of the week. dang.... and i need the temp to be higher
than 34F if im going to be washing at home.

i have the tools to wash the car in 32F, but the water just freezes...
even at 34F when wind from the north blows at the wet car. i want
to minimize taking the car to the touchless as much as possible if it's not
salted down.

I tried washing at the coin op after the car got dirty in the rain...it didn't get the sides clean so what a waste of cash. Now I know I just have to do it here with the buckets. It's probably going to need another wax coat soon. When you post about your water freezing I am grateful I live down here...We can wash our cars on Christmas or New Year's if we want - it's usually sunny and warm in the afternoon.

yah, i just take it to this local high-tech jet wash place where they
wash and wipe down the car. it gets the car clean (enough). they
can handle lowered cars so thats why i take it there. $15 with tip.
not cheap, but oh well~...

i know houston weather quite well actually. i use to live there back
in the late 70's.

hahaha. yah, but it's not just the looks. it's got swede fingers
and palm and very elastic outer side so it feels natural when you
drive (or while working on your car). none of that super grippy
rubber finger tips on a lot of mechanic's gloves.

size wise it is very similar to Mechanix gloves... to give you an
idea.

doh, i thought you got a new car, TOOL! lol

think before next season starts, im going to try one of these extractors
to vacuum out my G's brakefluid... ive seen the Motive ones that pressurize
from the resovire side, but im reading the universal connectors aren't that
great.

bascially griot's version of Mityvac's extrator pump with the brake
bleeder adapter and a bottle for fresh fluid... with this unit it is completely
compatible with all 4 of my cars without having to buy anything else.

so after a few weeks of tweaking the EQ on the HU (JVC Aresnal), i think
this is the setting that works pretty much across the board. this is using
stock speakers:

SRS: TypeC

60Hz: +02
150Hz: +03
400Hz: +05
1KHz: 0
2.4KHz: 0
6KHz: -02
15KHz: +02

Fade and balance is set in the center. i dont know wat it
sounds like in the back seats (only kids ride there anyways)
but it sounds pretty good in the front seats.

the metra bezel's rattling so i need to take it out again
and install some insulation.

so after posting the above, went ahead and removed the stereo again
and this time put some insulation material, new clips, and pushed the
bezel back into the opening. while i was at it, i also pushed out
the hazard switch from the back since im expecting my red one to
come in next week. looks kinda werd right now with the dangling
sw, but oh well. hahaha.

oh, and today i went to the mall with my wife and kids and stopped
by sears to pickup a cheezo $80 drawer. it's the red one in the pict,
lower shelf of my work bench. it's not bad for a cheapo unit.

pull-out drawer with lugs. i have protective coated sockets which
im going to place in the empty slots.

not many cutting and filing tools... i need to get more plastic cutting tools.

pliers in my second drawer...

other lugs and wheel/sus related tools in the 3rd drawer...

bottom drawer... corded drill and rotary tool...never know when you
might need corded tools.

sideview.

also got my SK torx screw driver set as well earlier this week.
when you have a euro-car, it's a must have. ive been using
my sockets on my ratchet but it's too bulky sometimes when
removing fasteners deep in the console. :P

Nice tool collection there Ken! I think I'm going out to Sears tonight for their "friends and family" sale from 6-9PM.

thanks, davela. im getting the brake fluid extractor in the next week or so
along with new pliers, plastic cutting tools, etc.

winter is a time for me to buy tools for my car/home to-do list for next season.
friends and family deal, huh? very cool. i would like to get a 3 or 4 drawer
intermediate on my toolcase, actually down the road.
