so im asking my wife to make me one of these, but with a FIT logo.
i want to cover my new steering wheel while parked out in the summer
sun.

if you guys are interested in buying the AutoSport one, it's on sale
over here. it just has a "look at me!" appearance so im not sure if i
want it.

Definetly a good concept. I dont have windsheild shades, because i dont like them. So yesterday afterwork the top of my steering wheel was about 100000 degrees, i was only able to touch the bottom half haha.

i have some minor corrosion under the clearcoat on my DR21's lips from
the chicago winter's salt.

i think im going to sand and polish just the lip, mask, and apply a few
coats of clear this weekend. hope the weather holds up... might
do 2 this weekend and the other 2 next weekend.

no luck getting the wife to make the steering wheel cover for me over
the weekend... she made some sketches and was measuring things
but she's just too busy with work and looking after our little kids.

so... i ended up ordering the autosport one for now. i think i'll show that
to her so she can copy the dimensions, etc and make a nicer looking one
down the road.

the corrosion on the DR21's weren't enough to really do much work on
them yet so skipped as well. perhaps next spring i'll just sand and
paint them another color.

hummm... these low offset wheels have been bugging me with
steering feedback. i can feel the wheels are beyond the
acceptable limits of the suspension geometry. i mean it still
drives fine but i can feel it torque steering each time i accelerate
hard and steering turned even a little.

i think it's time i should go back to stock wheels and run sticky
195/50/15 tires on them and even push-out the rears by 15mm.

front +55, rear +40... and even reconsider the progress rear
swaybars again given that the torque steer and this winding
feel are gone.

i think worst case run 15x6.5 with 45mm offset and 195/50/15
tires.

this morning I used a new product called Prima Amigo...actually, i started
using it last week but just to try it out in a small section.

it's a filler/cleaner that you use after clay and before wax. it evens out
any micromarring or hazing you might have and also hides light swirls.

if you have a dark car like me it's definitely worth a try. i recommend it.
it's easy to apply by hand or orbital. it dries quickly and you just remove
it with your MF towel. it cleans the surface so well that it looks like you
polished it.

Amigo is not a polish, it's a filler. then i followed with my favorite
wax called Griot's Best of Show. the wax itself makes dark colors
nice and deep, very rich, but with the Amigo the color is even darker
and looks even more enriched.

give it a shot especially if you dont have a random orbital buffer
to do any extensive polishing.

not a good pict, but this is one of my hobby cars i just got done doing
this morning.

i got 2 of these last week and been testing them out on my deepcycle
battery and my G35C's battery. it is the Deltran battery tender (charger)
with intelligent float mode.

it comes with a harness where it bolts down to your battery terminal
harness on your car so you can just plug-in the charger using that.
You can twist tie (or velcro tie in my case) the harness near your
battery when not in use.

Even though i motored my G35C yesterday for a good 2hrs the battery
tender took overnight to get to the float mode...which means my 4yr
old battery has developed some memory.

The battery tender has a LED indicator which shows:

a. flashing red: dead battery
b. red: charging
c. flashing green: over 80% charged
d. solid green: float-mode

Since i only motor my G35C during the weekends Im going to keep the
charger on there during the week to preserve the life of the battery
for a couple more years, at least.

Im definitely going to use it during the winter on both my G and MINI
since they hibernate all season long. the last 10yrs+ ive been just
charging my hobby car's batteries every 10-15days but now im
just going to plug in the tender and let it be. My regular higher
amp charger has a chip and float mode as well, but some times it wont
allow me to charge the battery due to the battery being over 80%
charged... now i dont have to worry about that and keep the charge
topped off.

It's only $29.95 each. they have a 12v version and 6v version so
make sure you get the 12v version if it's for your car. i think it's a nice
investment.

now that i got the steering wheel closer to me and my seat position
farther back from the pedals, i can now work on my accelerator pedal
cover.

although i dont mind spending top dollar for parts that are functional
i didnt feel like spending $175+ for the Mugen pedals especially since
the gas pedal is not a replacement for the plastic factory pedal, but
i read it's just a cover. pretty dumb, imho.

so, one of my buddies at a local shop gave me a brand new
discontinued(?) Nokya pedal set for AT ( my car's MT) for $5.

since all i wanted to do was make the gas pedal wider i didn't care.
the other pedals on the car are fine. i chose nokya because it's just
a thin piece of metal. only like 3mm thick so the gas pedal wont be
much closer. i put just the gas pedal cover on and took it for a
quick test drive. not bad~!

since it looks pretty ricy with just the blue gas pedal i sanded it down,
primed, and sprayed it matte black. unless anyone told you that i
put that pedal on there noone will know that it's aftermarket.

im waiting for the paint to dry right now. picts to follow tomorrow
after it fully cures.

this is wat the pedal looks like, only mine was blue. obviously didn't
use the brake pedal.

Thumbs down

my pedals' paint was already dry so mounted onto the car.

quite a bit wider but not super wide. I used the clamps on the
Nokya pedal and 2 tapping screws. it's not going anywhere.

**UPDATE ** RESULT: BAD DONT DO THIS MOD THIS WAY.

i just got back from motoring my FitS with this new gas pedal.
first 15min was
30min after
45min after
1hr after

went home before finishing my drive and removed it.

Here's what the problem is. the dotted yellow line is where the
bottom of the factory pedal ends. the yellow solid line is where
the Nokya pedal ends.

the ~20mm difference basically makes the pedal closer to the
driver. i rest my foot on the Nokya gas pedal and the car just
keeps accelerating because there's more throttle input
from the longer pedal.

i removed the pedal and back to normal...i can rest my foot
on the stock gas pedal and the car's speed is constant.

so.... dont do this mod unless you can find a small pedal where
both line up at the bottom. i think im going to look at some sparco's
or momo's.
