I'm not sure how to answer that. lol Fits were never that comfy to me as my arms are short but legs are long.

im thinking after the engine is broken in on the GTI, get a piggyback or reflash to tune the ESC. i hear the USDM GTI's are tuned extremely mildly and can easily bump up the torque 70ft/lbs range with a mild tune running 91octane. i run 93 octane so can expect even more + will swap intake.. should be a frikken fun hatch. and swap the tires to DWS06 in the Fall before snow..

taking the GK to work today. im getting clearbra and tint done this week on the GTI so dont want to chance dings on the freeway..

last week my rental car place gave me a brand new Focus during my biz trip. i have to say it was much nicer dan the Escort ive driven like 20yrs ago, but i still cant seem to like fords in general. the car had everything my wife's GK has.. but just felt like a corolla or something super boring. plus the suspension was much too soft for my taste, the AT was meh, and that Sony stereo sounded like crap. bass was okay, but there was this annoying metallic sound to the high frequencies and it just bugged the hell out of me. one thing i did like was the seating position and the amount of adjustability.

overall i could tell ford was benchmarking euro-cars.. most of the controls were very similar to my GTI. but nowhere close as far as the experience portion. individual control switches felt pretty decent, especially the turn signal stalk and wiper stalk felt very nice. but i wouldnt want the car for personal use.

so i took the GK to work today as i didnt want any dings on the front prior to clearbra application.

anyway, i learned something new today... the cvt in sport mode and no paddle shifting actually drove quite nice in traffic. the rpm stayed 2.5-3.5k range, the drivetrain felt mostly connected (until i coasted and re-applied throttle, but dat was expected due to torque converter) and it had a good amount of fast-ish responding torque. not bad, actually it made driving in congestion a lot easier.

now if honda can make the torque converter lockup above 1k rpm or something dat would be superb.. the biggest flaw of conventional AT cars is the torque converter. paddle shifting and gear holding... meh not a big deal. its the damn disconnect of the torque converter dat pisses me off

K, so I drove the GK to work two days in a row as I didn't want chips on the front bumper of my GTI before clearbra this week.

I'm excited (?) to report the GK in Sport mode without using the paddles is quite good in traffic. I mean like really good. . I should've tried this earlier. It's like on a MT car ure in either 2nd or 3rd gear. Nice engine braking while in congestion. Mpg did not drop much either. My trip netted 40.2 mpg. Very cool I must say.

Agreed the CVT is pretty smooth and responsive. And if you want to smooth out stop and go, I found adding the otherwise throttle numbing dreadful econ mode evens out a twitchy right foot nicely too.

I find the 2016 very peppy & responsive & notice no difference in ECON mode. Am beginning to think it just triggers the pretty green, leafy branch in the display!

my wife has the GK in econ mode all the time so i just left it. the only thing i dont like is the torque converter slop it still has when i let off the throttle and re-apply light throttle.

and being a MT driver i know my feet are very precise, but still the slop makes it somewat hard to get a consistent spin up especially with the a/c cycling. but besides this, the cvt map is very good to keep the rpm in 2.5-3k range while in sport mode. i like it A LOT more dan the conventional planetary gear AT. and dont mess with the paddles in sport mode. just let the cvt do the work.

once traffic stabilizes i shift back into D and then use the downshift paddle to slow as needed, and back into S mode when i catch up to more congestion. it was an enjoyable drive.

Meh got a few dots in the tint, think I might need to get the gate glass redone.

Besides that glass, looks perfect. Clearbra looks (can't see) ok too. I hate going back to the shop for the same thing twice.

got the GTi'S piggyback +45whp/45lbs torque boost, new HLT oz wheels... 8lbs lighter dan stock, and DWS06 wrapped on dem. should be a lively car after this. not dat it's not already.

got the OZ wheels installed on my GTI per avatar. looks okay, reminds me of my GE so i like that portion, but kinda lost that trademark GTI look without the factory wheels which disappointed me.

might just use these for winter as im not 100% liking the look, but this set is 9lbs lighter than stock per corner so the overall mpg and pep improved, but did not dramatically change the overall dynamics i was expecting from this huge weight savings. im sure for auto-x folks this is a huge difference for their times, but for street it seems VW engineered this car to use these heavy stock wheels.

Never mind my post above. I did a back to back vs stock wheel set and felt a HUGE difference in acceleration. . For handling not so much but i did notice the car feels better in Sport mode steering while rocking the light OZ vs running normal mode for the heavy stockers.

thanks mike. these oz's were a decent chunk of change so im glad too. i know that lowering the ride will make it even nicer appearance wise, but im going to leave the suspension stock for now. too many big dips and bumps on my commute on the express ways.. dont need to get rattled before getting to work. lol

been over a month of ownership on my GTI, like 5th or 6th tank of gas, engine fully broken in. i hit the top of the mpg at 26.9mpg. when i use different drive modes it starts to drop from 26.9. of course i dont drive this car with a light foot... thing is a rocket and a blast to drive. DSG hasnt bothered me for the most part, i use both full auto and manual modes during my commute.

i drove the same roads on my wife's GK and it did 40.2mpg. haha

oh yah, also got my tint re-done for free on the windows dat had da bubbles. looks nice now.

great, my wife drove the GK into those concrete divider things at the bank's atm drive-thru resulting in some major scuffage and minor dent at the bottom of the passenger side rocker.

paint missing from the rocker with 5-6 long gashes maybe 1.5ft long..

i had some old honda touch up bottle of taffeta white from the GE so dabbed dat on there for now to prevent any rust before i get mixed cans in the coming weeks.. will sand block the taffeta white off to a smooth finish, and spray over it with fresh orchard white pearl.
