Hey guys, I'm in the market for a wireless radar detector. I'm just looking for something affordable but not cheap. 100 bucks or less. Anyone got any suggestions.

if you aren't as hardcore and want some thing more polished, then get the 9500i its got built in GPS least false alarm.
but performance wise nothing beats V1, if you live in somewhere where radar detectors are illegal, then get the Sti, as it's the only undetectable radar detector.
If you live were detectors are illegal they can tell if you have one even if you hid it. Simple fact your speeding you get a hard Ka hit what do you do?, slam on your brakes, they aren't idiots they are gonna know you got one. That said I say take a look into Beltronics.

if the cop is w/in sight of you when you get the ka hit... it's too late anyway... you're getting a ticket
you're supposed to hit the brakes when the cop clocks someone else (and you're still a half mile away.
as stated earlier, the V1 is top notch... (arguably) the best
radarbusters.com has some great info (but they don't sell, or even speak highly of V1)...he doesn't speak highly of cordless detectors either.
i have an x50.... it's great. until the 9500i came out, radarbusters ranked it #1. i chose it over the V1 because it matched the dash in my previous car better...
They have the Whistler XTR 190 ranked best in the <$100 category...and it's cordless too

for only 100bucks, might be best to get a used one.
i have a old 7500 im running in my FitS... works pretty well
even with the metalized tint. but i dont really speed so more
or less just an accessory.
im running V1 on my hobby cars. they are by far a nice
conversation piece.

Getting one for $100 won't even be worth it, it won't perform well enough to even help you out, it may warn you well enough about 10% of the time, with another 10% of actually detecting a police radar but being far too late, and the last 80% being false alarms due to garage openers, security systems, etc. My suggestion would be, save your money and drive without one as owning a $100 one would be just about the same thing, or save up and get a good one with good range that can actually detect something.
Unless you just want that "I like to drive fast" look.

Very true but, what is your first reaction when you get the signal? you hit the brakes. All im saying is in a state where detectors are illegal when you hit your brakes at the same time as radar is pointed at you the cops gonna know whats up and most likely write you a ticket, even if you hide the device.

I don't think you know how radar detectors work, when a radar is pointed at your car, no one can save you. Radar detector gets its signal from signals bounced off of other cars, so when a cop points it's radar at a car 2 mile away, my radar detector will pick up that signal, and I will hit the break. If you are speeding, you see a cop, and you don't hit the break....maybe you should pay the doc a visit...
back on topic, I think there should be a trusting relationship between you and the radar detector, if you buy a cheap one, you can't really count on it, so why bother? get one that you can depend on. But most importantly, use your brain.
I was just waiting for the smart @$$es to show up....maybe if you spend over 50% of your time on the road and you will realize that the extra 10mph means a nice long needed sleep.
Learn to think in other people's shoes will get you a long way.
80% of highway patrol uses Laser speed tracking so a radar detector is useless, as is a laser detector. Since by the time it detects it, the beam bounced back and the officer allready got a reading.

Laser jammers are legal in most places, and most high end radar has laser detection. But like I said, nothing is going to work out, unless you use your brain, and safety is always first, don't forget that. I know too many stupid kids with their Laser jammers zipping through traffic like it's nobody's business...
To me personally, V1 is the way to go for this pure reason; you can upgrade it unlike the others. As for range the 9500i (I believe, since I don't keep up with these stuff), however (in my BIAS opinion ) it not really cost effected, since you "have" to buy the updated or upgraded version.

For 100 or less your options are kinda limited and to be honest with you for that kind of money its not worth it imo. I guess you could say you get what you pay for. I have a V1 and i love it but its pretty spendy and not to many people will agree that its worth the money.
