hardwire a radar detector

Anyone done it? What is the easiest way to do this? Shed some light please. Oh and where did you mount the detector? Thanks

So, I thought I'd use a Add-a-circuit and attach it to the cigarette fuse. I'm not sure how to get the wire out of the fusebox. Are there any holes that I can go through from the fusebox? I'll probably mount the detector to the driver side wind shield.

I hard wired my Valentine one in through the fuse box and i ran the wire up the A pillar and through the headliner to the rear view mirror plug and hooked it up to the detector that is next to the rear view mirror. The add a circuit should work out just fine.

Anyone do this by running the wires through a vent or under the dash? Just need some help on how to get the dash apart possibly.

Or rather pics of them doing it. Maybe a DIY would be awesome seeing as I have no knowledge of electrical at all.

those radar detectors use so little power you can just wrap the wire
around the fuse terminal and push it into the fuse box.

i used a generic 2 conductor phone line to wireup my 7500.
and just tucked the cord under the a-pillar cover and up the
ceiling. no need to remove any of the panels.

for ground you can find a bolt or i used a panel clip (looks like a
binder clip without the handles) and sandwich a bare wire between
the clip and steering wheel column metal. that's how little power
it takes. should only take like 10min to do this hardwire.

Honestly, you shouldn't be asking for pictures, just do it... no matter how ghetto it is.

im pretty good with wires and i see how you could run the wires easily without removing the pillar BUT I dont want to run the wire so it blocks the air bag.

I would like to do this properly and remover the pillar. Can anyone explain how to do this without blocking the air bag.

how is it done?

my V1 should be here on monday, but i want to be prepared and hard wire it first thing. ive looked around and saw people tapping into their mirror lighting, sun roof power, radio, blah blah. but those were on other cars. wat should/can i tap into through the fuse box? and how? add a circuit? same way spooling is doing? i just dont know what to tap into, and if i have to ground it or not. also, ive took pictures of how i would wire it, based on what i've read on here. tell me if im on the right track

general starting pic:

(pillar before the triangle window)

(from outside through the window, its the headliner)

and to the mirror and so on. everything ok? and what to tap into, how? and grounding needed and how? one of the bolts on firewall?
