IVA-w505 Installed!! Pics

So I just finished up my install of the my new IVA-w505, and I must say I'm very pleased. The Pac bypass I used works flawlessly, and although the support for the 505 isnt out for the xm tuner module last years model works fine

now for some crappy pics I shot last night.

rpboy06 is on a distinguished road
How difficult is the install? I've never done any audio work, but I want to install an in-dash system as well (possibly the Avic-F series from Pioneer). Am I going to need any other materials for my install?

You need some basic electronic knowledge to do the video bypass, beyond that its just popping panels and matching colors.

I ordered this from Crutchfield as I needed it quick and none of my local audio shop friends are alpine dealers, I got all the install accessories for free so that wasnt bad.

about $1000 bucks for this one through crutchfield.

Hey can you take more pics of the screen with an XM station tuned in? Do you get to see 4 lines of text for stations? I've been admiring this headunit in the Crutchfield catalog. So far my CDA-9887 is holding me over, but thats definitely a nice unit. I have the original XM Direct tuner, and am awaiting the release of the new Alpine HD Radio tuner as well. Also curious how presets work with these touchscreen models. I flip a lot so having the preset buttons on my current one really is a neccesity.

The only drawbacks to these DD decks that I see is that there is no security involved, as in removing the faceplate or something like that. Otherwise I would love to have one of these things!

yeah but they're a huge b*&!^ to get out of the dash, so generally the bad people don't go for them.

also, most that i've seen have a security code that you set upon first boot up, and it pops up when the constant 12v is disconnected, etc. and you can't get an unlock code from the manufacturer without the original receipt and confirmation from wherever you bought it (used to work in the industry).

Yeah but you ever see a car after someone ripped out a stereo? They will completely mangle and destroy an entire dash to get something out that they want, they arent gonna be neat about it. I've had my radio out 3x, and if I was a loser and wanted to steal a radio from a Fit, I could have it out pretty quickly, which means the scum that do steal these things will have it out probably 50x faster than I could. JVC has a nice one that just came out with a removeable face, I ordered it but now find out that the XM stuff I have wont work, and the newer setup isnt out for it yet, so what to do, what to do!
