Pioneer DEH-P6000UB in 08 Fit Sport w/ painted Metra Kit :)

Hey guys,

thought I'd share a few pics with you. Hubby installed my new head unit and I'm soo happy with it. No comparison with the crappy stock HU - that thing sounds so good even with the stock speakers! Even songs in a bad quality that sounded real bad in the old one actually sound ok now.

My husband says the Fit's sound system now sounds better than the one in his Impreza STI - even though he also changed his HU to an Alpine one.

Anyway, we painted the Metra kit with a nice blue that comes pretty close to the exterior color (yeah, I know, it doesn't really fit the color of the interior trim kit I have..) plus we installed 2 LEDs at the bottom right over the cupholders - so now I have illuminated cupholders

OK, so here's the pictures!

The blue display matches my all blue Fit perfectly (hope you noticed the blue Maglite )

The blue () things you can see here on the left and right in the empty slot are snap-in LEDs that switch on with the headlights (bought 2 for about 2,50$ @ Radio Shack)
The cable is my USB hookup. Man, I didn't know how much music I can fit on a 4 GB USB-stick!

Does anybody have ideas what to do with the gap directly under the stereo?
I don't know if it's a good idea to put something there since the face tilts to put CDs in and can be taken off, too.

That's the best single din setup I've seen. It looks very clean. Maybe you can put an equalizer in the space under the radio.

Congrats

very nice install! perfect fit. i was thinking about the same headunit. they have it on sale for 150 bucks at crutchfield. but i really like the aux port in the front, so im probally going to be going with a simular one to that. an eq there would be really nice, esp if its a perfect fit!

another idea - maybe you can mount some sort of ipod stock there.

Nice install! Yep Pioneer HUs make the stock speakers sound wonderful - the benefits of having a GOOD audio source

There's an advantage to having an HU with the USB jack at the back. I have a similar HU (your HU's predecessor, the DEH-P7950UB a.k.a the DEH-P6900UB over there) and I ran the USB cable under the center console so that it peeks out at the opening for the handbrake lever. Since I connect USB thumbdrives to it, I did it this way to reduce clutter.

That looks really good. So the Metra kit is specific to the Fit and includes the blue painted dash panel and the black trim for the HU and the storage slot underneath?

constructicon will become famous soon enough
$150 for the HU? Damn, I knew I should have waited. I got the DEHP5000UB last year for $200. The OEL display might be worth the $150...

Good idea on the EQ for the second DIN space. The shelf in there only holds my ID badges for work, but an EQ would be a nice addition.
