Thank you Fit Freaks! - i love my new HU

HUGE thank you for everyone whose information helped me install my new head unit and amp power cable.

Here is my new Head unit, playing my ipod's music, at my ipod's direction (choose song on ipod, head unit will play the file, and decode it better)

The bluetooth handsfree functionality is also rather slick. Now I can shift gears during a conversation!

My in-line fuse holder was mounted like so:

My amp and sub are on there way, now I get to think about enclosures...

circa40: I copied your firewall drill location exactly, it's out of the way, and very direct, no mangling the stock wiring.

Daemoine and MetalFit630:You gave me hope that there was a simple solution to the fuse-holder location problem, and you were right!

Beaugus: Having the electronic service manual for my car was a massive confidence boost, without it, I may not have attempted this install myself.

To the countless FitFreaks who extolled the virtues of their own aftermarket head units, thank you for the inspiration, and tips on the install.

Awesome! Thanks for the pictures, looks great! It's great when we can see that we've helped another FitFreak. I don't know where I'd be without this forum, so much awesome help, advice and opinions.

What are you thinking about as far as an enclosure? What sub/amp are you getting? Are you thinking about putting new speakers in?

I've given the enclosure it's own thread here: Enclosure questions

If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them!

The driver is an Alpine SWR-1042D (DVC 4 ohm, 10" Type R), and the amp is an Alpine MRP-M500 ("V-Power" series, 500watt rms at 2 ohm).

New speakers (and probably an amp for them) are budgeted for the next round of spending on the car. I'd like to go 6.5" components. Not sure what type yet; the options are almost limitless, as are the number of opinions on the subject, care to share yours?
