Fit for ear destruction.

My friend has a decibel meter. Checked my Fit last night to see how loud it was.

With windows rolled up, at Volume 23 (it goes to 35 max, but still sounds good around 27-28 without distorting), the decibel meter was reading 129 Db.

Here is a little chart to give an idea how loud that is:

Did you test to see how loud the stock stereo was before you put in that Alpine system?

If you get a chance to do that again, you should see what kinda decibel level just driving down the highway is.

Oh, no. This is a full Alpine system.

No way a stock stereo will make 129 Db.

I speak from exp.,,,,,turn it down , if you hear a ringing in your ears when there is no sound, one day that ringing WILL NOT GO AWAY and your hearing is damaged FOR LIFE...and will only get worse with more loud noises,,,,

Give it a few years, after tinnitus (medical term for ringing in the ears) sets in you will hear alot less road noise [and many other sounds also (except for the ringing in your ears)!]. I work in a high noise setting (125+ decibels). I have always worn my hearing protection religiously, many of my coworkers who haven't now have hearing loss and couldn't enjoy music if they wanted too. One coworker used to say that ear plugs are for "pussies", he now uses hearing aids at all times. I wear hearing protection to most rock concerts I go to (as do most rock musicians). 95 decibels is not loud enough to cause pain, but is loud enough to cause permanent hearing loss. Hey, it's your hearing, but remember hearing loss is permanent and irrreversable.

Injundon will become famous soon enough
high 120's /low 130;s is average for a pair fo 10's in a sealed enclosure in a hatchback. It's decent.

I'll let you guys in on a fun little fact about bass and confined spaces. The louder the sub bass in your car, the higher your hearing threshold becomes. There are thousands of cars out there hitting over 140db's and nobody is suffering ear damge from it. Why. As the car cars cabin becoms pressurized so do your ears so they can better "resist" any damage caused by excessive pressure waves.

Also the volume number on the display means little to nothing it's all in how your gains were set

Interesting info Injundon I was wondering when/if you were gunna
chime in...new it would be interesting.
such a bummer that it increases stress/anxiety levels.
I know whatcha mean...
but maybe windows down vs up would be diff,
and tons of smokers don't have pronounced lung problems...
I have possibly a rare ear dissorder in which
others loud music can and usually will bother me to a great an unfortunate extent.

Well my friend ,,,I would have to say you are blowing smoke here,,,
unless of course you have TESTED everyone you are talking about not suffering hearing loss,,,just woundering where you got this info cuz unless it's a proven clinical fact , (would really like to see a link to this) your not doing anyone a favor with this news.,,,
I'm not calling yo a liar ,,would just like to know if you have facts to back it up...this kind of hearing loss does seem to be worse with higher frequency but the damage is slow to come,,,,,,
