Information/Help in aftermarket radio install DIY

Hey guys, first off i just got my 08 fit about 1 month ago and just registered to the forums, so no sig or anything yet. I am in the military and in an area I don't know very well so I wanted a NAV system. Heres where my personality steps in.. i like to do things myself and i wanted a aftermarket stereo with NAV and all the toys in it. I got the Dash kit and the AVIC-Z2, did some research on what i needed. I have installed radios before, but here is the issue I am having. I connected up the wiring and went to test the unit before I completed the install, it would not turn on. I checked the fuses to make sure and the wiring again. after T/Sing it for a while I was thinking maybe the deck was bad. I decided to pop my old one back in until I resolved the issue. Once i did that and connected the battery back up and what not, I turned the car on, Radio would not turn on, checked wiring and fuses again, everything is good. So I am a little angry, I decide I am done for the day and will mess with it later. I push the lock button on my keyless remote and the car does not lock. Again I checked the fuses, nothing is wrong. I believe it has to have something to do with the security system, but that is one thing I am unfamiliar with. Before I bring it into the dealership and make an ass out of myself, I was wondering if anyone else had/has this issue, appreciate any help. Thanks

The radio for the sport should have a code to enter or else it won't work.. but don't think it would affect the keyfob working?.. that's all i got..

Yeah I know about the code, I have it. The radio just doesn't turn on anymore. Maybe its some other fuse that don't fit with the obvious ones, IE (Radio, Door Locks, etc). Seems odd though, whatever it is its affecting the radio's power and keyless entry.

Use a voltmeter

and make sure you are getting power to the connector. Usually there is constant power to the stereo once the key is turned to aux or on.

Well had some bad weather past few days so i didn't want to be out in the cold rain looking at fuses. I checked some of the fuses again after the storm has cleared, I am about to just look through every single one, but before I go there I am going to use a multimeter to verify that the Stereo is or is not getting power. If it is getting power I still would like to know why my Keyless entry stopped working. Anyhow I will let you all know what happens. Maybe this will help someone else who might have had similar issues.

Oh... I would take it to the dealer if you have already checked the fuses. If the fuses are all good then you prob shorted out something else on the car side and not the head unit side especially since your saying your key fob isnt working anymore. I had my Eclipse Navi system installed cause i didnt want the headache of something like this. The dealer would have the best idea of what to do and how to fix it. You will have to pay but atleast it will be taken care of. Sorry if that doesnt help but thats my .02 cents.

Injundon will become famous soon enough
this is why people should just buy the damn wiring adapters!!!. You blew one of the fuses under hood.

Well I finally found it. Yes as Injundon said it was a fuse under the hood, but yes I did buy a Wiring adapter though. Anyhow it was a fuse I didn't think would cause all these problems. It is the one labeled Back Up 10A. This caused the radio, keyless entry and apparently my dome light(didn't notice it till later), and my ability to use the lock and unlock button in the car while it is off to not work.

Hondajazz2005, my code card was in the glove box when I bought the car, its about the side of a credit card, but thin like paper.

Appreciate the help guys, I will post some pics and things once I get it installed.
