The one large headlight in the Fit's housing appears to be fairly large. Has anyone ever seen, up-close, both that and the housing of a 2002-2006 Q45?
The Q has these massive "gatling-gun" style HID projectors that people often retrofit to other cars, and I think that the Fit's lights would be prime candidates.
It would definitely set one's Fit apart. They're still the brightest stock headlights in the world, IIRC.
Well, the Q45 HID projectors are very bright, but I am not sure they are still the brightest headlights anymore. From what I have researched, the Lexus LS HID projectors may actually be the best.
But from my point of view, since the Q45 hasn't sold well, there really arent that many spare Q45 HID projectors laying around. So yes, it would be very unique, but it would also be VERY expensive. Also, I am not sure if it is a bixenon projector, because if it isn't then you will lose your highbeams.
If I get a Fit, my first HID projector choice would be the 04+ TL bixenon projectors. Second choice would probably be the 02+ Bosch Bixenons.
My draw towards the Q45 projectors would be based more on their look than their brightness.
If I wanted nice HID's that didn't have that multi-lens look, I think I'd just opt for the JDM HID Fit headlights (I'm like 99% sure these exist, I'm not hallucinating this, am I?)
I saw the Q45 projectors retrofitted into a 280Z once (which has those big, round headlights), and it looked fan-shmabulous. Of course, the huge flares, SSR Professors, and ITB'd S20 didn't hurt either (w00t Rocky Auto).
I see what you're saying. But the Q45 projectors only look good up close when they aren't on.
With respect to JDM HIDs, I have looked on the honda japan website and I dont see the option for HIDs on the Fit. But I dont speak/read Japanese so I could be wrong. But I know Mugen made HID headlight clusters so that may be an option. Regardless, I can imagine JDM HID would be very expensive. Also, the light pattern would be incorrect for US roads, since they drive on the other side.
S2k projectors are nice. But if you retrofit them, you will lose your highbeam. They are also one of the more expensive HID projectors on the market as well.
There are many bixenon projectors on the market that'll let you retain the high and low beam when you retro them into your Fit headlights. The one's I feel have superior optics are the ones off of the Acura RL. They produce a very bright and wide beam, but they cost an arm and a leg. I personally have a prelude and I retro'd TSX projectors into mine. I'd probably rank them 3rd in optics behind the RL, and s2000.

Q45 retro's are very common in the lexus community, my cousin has them on his GS if anyone really wanted to do it i could ask the guy that does the retros for everyone over on the clublexus forums if he would be willing to do some honda ones for us. his work is top notch

Q45 lights on a fit? Heaven forbid!

The company that makes it is called "AEROOVER" from K-Factory, thank you Hyper-Rev. Too bad it wont fit in the USDM Fit, unless you do the JDM rebar and bumper surport.
