Question additional auxilary lighting working with dome light

OK I have pair of StreetGlow lights installed in the cabin of the Fit. Right now they are just using the cig lighter and a switch I wired in so I can turn them off and off without having ot take the cig lighter in & out.

I want to wire these into a 12v fused source that will also work with the dome light. I just want the lights to work in conjuction with the dome light, so when the doors open, the auxilary lighting comes on as well.

Has anyone done this already or know what wires to tap into? (also planning on doing this for the hatch area as well)

One of the wires for the overhead dome light is "switched" from the door(s) providing signal. I don't recall which wire it is, but it is listed in the Helm manual.

Just trace down that wire and tap into it before it goes overhead!

Thanks for the info!

Would anyone know which wire it would be, and where it is located?

Images / Diagrams would be great!

CAn u show us the final pic? This is somethign I wondered since I got the fit. I got a red LED, but it looked wrong. I might get a blue...but if I do, i want two LEDs, beneath the feet area of both driver and passenger. Not a fan of beneath the AC controls

I think the one I got was also street glow. I hope somoen knows how to access the interior wiring

When lit door stills are released id like them to come on with the dome light is lit, does anybody know where or have a diagram as to how we can tap into the dome light switch?

Splicing directly to the door switch will mean the light will only turn on when that particular door is open. Which might be fun too, but the dome light will turn on when any door is open.

I just got the Helms manual today, and have been waiting to check the possibility of adding interior (footwell) lighting that's triggered by the same switch as the dome light as well.

Well, from looking at the diagrams, it seems the roof wiring harness going to the dome light is connected to the underdash fuse/relay box at the top left connector. And it looks like the wire you're looking for coming from the dome light is green/red. So connect your aux lighting to a power source, and the ground to the green/red wire, and it SHOULD work. (I haven't tested it)

Hope this helps.
