Speaking of "best quality", which one would that be and what defines "quality" in relation to tint?
Honestly, I am doing the research right now. I figure that there is a difference between store bought DIY tint and Pro Shop Tint, so I am trying to figure out what is best... or close to it.
Right now I am looking at TintDude.com's Window Tinting Forum where tint guys talk shop. There seems to be a split decision on whether the Fit is easy to tint or hard. Hopefully I find a shop that thinks its easy. heheh.

hey you're from KC area? Been wondering if there are Fit modders in the area. From Lawrence (KU). You on kcsr much
Actually, I haven't been on there at all, so thanks for the "heads up". I'm just getting into modding my since I've only had it 2 months, so I'm gonna be sinking some money into it soon. Maybe we can get together and knock out a dual lowering spring install or somethin. I've done several car audio installs, so I'm handy with that stuff. I'll even forgive you for being from Lawrence.

Ya, I just called a guy from St. Louis who has been doing it for 22 years. He said he's actually done several Fits already. He quoted me $200, but he told me I should be able to get a better price in the KC metro area. He told me the best thing to ask is what the warranty is, if the price quoted includes the best or cheapest quality stuff, and how long the installer guarantees his work. He uses a particular film that has a nationwide lifetime guarantee and when it starts to fade, bubble, or just look nasty, they will replace it for free at any retailer. Not a bad deal!

This seems to be the best (and most agreed upon) response on what the "Best" Tint is

we have a registry for you to try that list members from this site, some could be in your area. you came to the right place if you want several opinions, that you will get. As a consumer, understand that there a couple of factors that play in other than film type. Any seasoned professional will carry a good quality film. A shade tree hack wont care what you get and wont have many options for you. Keep that in mind.
Dont get caught up on brand name, leave that to the installer. Most of us have used darn nere all GOOD types of film and consitantly use what works good for our particular installment procedures. I would,as would most here, suggest a metallized film simply because of a high endurance, professional look and a very good warranty. When you vist an installer he will show you different shades , colors and percentages. GO LEGAL, dont pressure a professional to tint illegaly, as he WONT (or at least if he's a professional). Trust him/her, listen to they're follow up care instructions and if you feel your having problems post install, give them a chance to either rectify or explain the situation.
... Now just have to find a good shop!

Tint laws pretty much vary with every police officer. I've had one tell me you can put tint on the front windows as long as you can see inside, and I had another tell me all tint is illegal on the fronts. Then we had another tell us tint is illegal on the back windows if you can't see through it. These were all Pennsylvania officers. Who knows.

Which of these tints posted are metal-based films, and which ones dye-based films? Is there much difference in the look?
I went to a place in my city today, and here are some things I was told by the salesperson - hopefully it is all true, but it is certainly in favour of the expensive option, so maybe he was playing me:
Dye based film CAD $150 (LlumarFilm ATR product, which according to their website is actually combo dyed/metal)
-get the "black look"
-will fade some over time
-may have troubles seeing through it at night
Metallic film CAD$300 (LlumarFilm Platinum Plus)
-no fading, but no black look
-"shiny" look? I'm not sure how it would look
-no problems at all with driver's visibility at night
-still get good hiding of what's going on inside
-better heat reflection
Both of these were offered with lifetime warranty for the original purchaser, and it was suggested I go with 35% on all windows, with 20% for the rear windshield (legal limit here is 35% for front windows, not restriction in rear).

In California tinting the front windows at all appears to be illegal (CHP -- Street Legal).
The rule of thumb I've heard from most places seems to be that if they can see you through the side windows you're fine, otherwise you're likely to get ticketed. That is the only reason I didn't go for the 5%.
i have 35% all around in the fit. the truck is 20%. you can see easily through the fit windows at night and obviously daytime pics. some angles it looks darker but it's not very dark. I don't like the staggered tint look myself.
can you please post more pics of that hachi roku in the background?

If you were anywhere near North Dakota, i would say to come by the place where i work at. Tintmasters Motorsports 2006 Been in the upper midwest for over 13 years now. the fit is a easy vehicle to tint, have not had any issues with the 5 or 6 that i have had the pleasure to work on (including mine!!) Anything from remote car starters to tint and suspension. We do it all here. If you are near the Minneapolis area we have a store there.
