i'll try to get pix tomorrow, but the floor mats look like your typical floormat. but the all weather mats are made of rubber and have raised edges so even if you spill liquid on them, you won't get liquid on teh carpet. very nice, definately worth the few extra bucks.
I know this is an old thread, but I got a Fit about 2 months ago and I finally broke down and bought floor mats and went to install them last night. I'd watched the College Hills Honda installation video a couple times and figured I'd have no problem putting them in. Driver's side first, I cut through the insulation and all that stuff, plugged in the grommets and screwed the hooks in place, no sweat. I went over to the passenger side to do the same, cut the notch in the carpet the rest of the way and saw that there was no partial cut in the insulation like there was on the driver's side. I thought it was strange and cut through anyway and felt to see if there was the same hole to screw into as was on the driver's side. No dice. Tried the other spot to see if it was the same and sure enough, no hole. Has this happened to anyone else? I know the hooks aren't really needed on the passenger side, but why would Honda include hooks for a side that has no place to anchor them? Let me know if you've had the same issue.
The holes are there - I used them installing the four front hooks on my car. The carpet may not be 100% lined up with them, but a bit of searching should reveal them, unless Honda's changed something in the 8 months since I got mine.

Thanks Scott. I guess I'll have to do some more searching for those holes. It seems odd that they just wouldn't be there, but I just couldn't feel anything but smooth metal as far as I could feel through the hole in the carpet and insulation. Bizarre. Worst case, no anchors on the passenger side. It's not like they're totally needed though. Thanks again for the reply!
Update on the Rubbermaid mats. Mine lasted about 1 year and the driver's mat litterally disintegrated. The other mats seem fine. I only have about 8k miles so I am kind of disappointed. Maybe it's a "You get what you pay for" or I maybe got a bad set. Anyone else have problems with the Rubbermaid after a year? I do live in Michigan and maybe the ice melt and salt had an effect. I will contact Rubbermaid and see what they can do.

Wow, that is some rollercoaster ride you've been on with those mats! From enthusiastic support to "they're disintegrating!". Now I don't know whether to go find some for myself or not!
The Rubbermaid mats they have at Target now don't have carpet insets, so I went to several different places before settling on Autozone. I bought two products. One is the Autozone Elite 2-piece Premium Set for Cars, Trucks, and SUVs. I can't really find a part number, but the UPC is 0 33299 28310 6. These mats have the edges that can be trimmed back, and I trimmed mine to fit in the front. How do they fit? Well, they aren't perfect, but really the worst part is that one of the corners near the aft end (towards the driver or passenger) curls up against that bulge that's under the seat. Otherwise, they look great!
The other product I bought is the Autozone 4-piece set, also labelled Cars, Trucks, and SUVs. The UPC on this is 0 33299 28340 3. Now the clever thing I did here is that I used the FRONT mats from this set in the BACK seat, and they fit great! They completely cover that area, including under the front seats, so you get full coverage. And the bonus is that I have two small mats left over (the two rear mats from the 4-piece set). Total cost was just under $55.
I got mine from autoanything.com, hexo mats is what they call them, I liked them more than the oem mats. they costed $100.00 and have a cool honey comb design, are cut for perfect fit and have holes for the floor mat hooks that I got from the honda dealer.

honda brand floormats dont slip. and they also provide an installation hook. many people find the hook to be inconvienient, but they are provide for safety issues. the hooks prevent them from slipping and interfering with your brakes and accelerator pedals.
I had the same problem with my cheapo mat slipping under the clutch pedal but after I installed the OEM mats I threw my cheap mats on top of those and now they don't slip around on the plastic.
I see no reason in spending around $100 for the official mats and I have read this thread before about getting mats from Target but there are no Targets around me. Is there somewhere else someone has found to get mats from that they can trim that work just as well? I was thinking of Walmart or Autozone or something, that's all I really have around me but I am wondering if they fit with cutting but without puckering? I've got to do something, my carpet is getting a bit scuffed up.
Here is what I did. I bought 4 ft. of charcoal colored carpet runner for the front seats. Each floormat is about 2 feet long. I put the uncut piece on the floor and marked with a blue marker where I want to cut. Just press down until the carpet creases and mark, then cut. By doing this, the piece you cut will fit exactly into the floormat area and you will not have to worry about sliding. Also, when the floormat is worn out, just buy some more carpet and use the previous piece as a template. I also used this carpet for the trunk space and to put over the seats when they are down. Total cost to carpet my entire car is less than $40. http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...3+90164+526452
Edit: It looks like Home Depot took the item down. The carpet is called "Concord 36 inch Runner - Charcoal", Model 2944-22-ROL ,and I bought it at Menards. You can still probably get it at home depot. It matches very nicely with the black interior. I can post pictures if you'd like, just ask.

Reason: fix link
I'm interested in some type of rubber mats though, I live in Ohio and our weather is going to get real nasty real quick. Carpet mats wouldn't make much sense.
