Guys: below are two links, the first to a Car Talk forum thread that describes the Fit battery situation, and below that a link to a properly-sized battery for sale at Batteries Plus. I'm going to see if I can get a 51R Optima in mine.

If you want the best, be prepared to pay for it. XS Power D5100 will fit in the factory metal tray you will have to remove the plastic tray and relocate the factory top harness but the D5100 is the biggest baddest battery you could put under the hood.

Here is a picture of mine.

Are there any motorcycle batteries that could do the job?

I had 2 12's and a single 10 with two amps totaling over a 1000rms on the stock battery last year.

Upgrade the alternator cable to 4 or 0 gauge, add a few 4 or 0 gauge grounds in the engine bay, and I was just fine as long as I did not crank it super loud for more then 30-40 minutes.

That said, ANY car audio battery will be an improvement, so you do not need some super expensive badass battery.

just get an AGM type battery capable of over 400 cold cranking amps and pretty low internal resistance and you will be fine

I ran an SVR battery rated for 20aH and it was about a third of the stock batteyr size, had more cranking amps, and cleaned up muddy bass at higher volumes.

Im currently on a pair of twelves pulling 1900rms out of an old school Kenwood on a superstart group 26R battery. runs just fine, though I have outgrown thrashing bass all over the city.

I beg to differ.
I was determined to fit a big, badass battery in my Fit so I made a brand new aluminum battery tray, removed the old plastic box and metal brackets that came stock on the car, bolted the new tray into place with stainless steel bolts and sandwiched this Kinetik HC1800

XS Power 5100:

- Cranking amps: 750
- Amp hours: 60
- Weight: 39.6 lbs
- Dimensions: 5.43" D, 9.04" W, 8.19" H

Kinetik HC1800:

- Cranking amps: 1350
- Amp hours: 75
- Weight: 50.7 lbs
- Dimensions: 6.61" D, 10.24"W, 8.27" H

Since I installed this beast, my car starts better, my lights are brighter and my stereo sounds incredible. HIGHLY recommended if you can make the mods!

I'd still recommend the d5100r, the kinetik is not made to be a starting battery
