So, aside from metal (Skunk2 is steel cadmium plated and H-Fit Alu, I believe), do they achieve the same effect and % reduction? Why should one buy the H-Fit over the most "branded" Skunk2?

they really are just chunks of metal that lift the shifter assembly therefore shortening the shift. i have the skunk2 one and it works great but the h-fit one should work just the same.

it would seem that putting those spacers in would raise the overall height of the shifter, where most SS kits lower the overall height,
does anyone have any problems with this?

it would be counter productive if installing a short shifter kit increases the time it takes to get your hand from the steering wheel to the shift knob. just my opinion
the first company to make a road race style short shift kit for the gd/ge will make a killing
The T1R consists of the lever. The skunk2 has a replacement "ball" and 4 metal spacers to raise the whole assembly. Just wondered if it was possible to achieve an even shorter shift.
Perhaps it's good to pair the T1R with metal spacers, only, not to stress the shifting mech too much... don't know.

Do it man! It is well worth it, I have had mine for long enough that i can't remember what the OE throws were like. GD3wagoon, the road race shifter seems like a good idea until you realize that you would have to negotiate a path around the damn thing to adjust the radio or HVAC, never mind getting to a drink in the cupholder. While I agree that these are not concerns shared by hard core road racers, I ain't one of them and that big ol shifter would get on my nerves in a big hurry.

I have a circuit hero shift lever extender right now and it isn't in the way. I guess it would depend on your seating position but it works for me, no compromise at all
